I have been blessed with parents who had diverse musical tastes, and thus I have heard and been influenced by music from across the spectrum. Nowadays Drum and Bass is my main passion, as many of its producers also draw from many different influences and are not afraid to express their own history and fuse the likes of Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock etc with the more modern breaks and bass.

Ez all,
I'm Tony aka Mr. Bang-e... Want to know a little more about me, my views and what I do...? Then please read on :)
Well for those that don't know, I've been a DJ on various musical fronts for over 18 years now. I started out in 1991 playing Hardcore at a couple of small parties in Colchester Essex, then moved up to North Yorkshire a year later and played various nights in Mexborough, Wakefield & Harrogate before getting a lucky break @ The Warehouse parties in Doncaster (Big up Shy & the 92 crew!) playing to a couple of thousand sweaty hoody wearers. Ahh sweaty hoodies... some things never change I suppose... If you were there and remember some of this, well done you must be nearly as old & clean living as me :)
During my time, I have played all the different incarnations of Breakbeat... Call it Rave, Hardcore, Darkcore, Intelligent, Jungle, 2 step, Hard step, Technoid, NeuroFunk... Blah blah etc etc - It's all music inspired around Breaks and Bass. Too many people focus on the names and not the content; for me, substance is what it's all about... Although each 'derivative' of the music has its place, I’ve always liked to focus on that music which draws upon the key fundamentals of Breaks & Bass, whilst still exploring new angles of sound.
As the years rolled on, I had a great time playing at various clubs and events across the UK & Europe, some alongside the biggest names on the circuit. I even had 9 months in the mid nineties where I earned enough cash DJ’ing to go pro… But it didn’t last long enough and I quickly learned that having the ability to beat mix tunes to a reasonable standard wasn’t going to be enough to propel me towards international stardom… A lesson that many a young DJ still learns today.

And so… to the present… Rumour has it that I’m still going strong :)

You can find me on point fairly regularly across the UK, with a couple of residences in Peterborough. I’m still racking up the Airmiles too, with regular guest appearances at various clubs & events in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany. Nowadays, my musical alignment is towards the deeper side of Drum & Bass, drawing new music from established artists such as Raiden, Break, Vicious Circle, Cern, Phobia, Jubei, Fierce, Nymfo, Khanage, Meth (Formerly of The Sect) and many more… I also like to champion new artists and their sounds; fame, name and location are unimportant, if I like it, I’ll be playing it and doing whatever I can (in my own small way) to push that artist on to the next level… Currently, I’m really excited by the sounds of Ulterior Motive & Judda, Chris Overdrive, Badboy Kaiza & EK50.
I also run two nights @ Club Dissident in Peterborough UK with my business partner, close friend and kindred spirit Clint Komplex. The first promotion is called 'NeuroFunktion' which is the more upfront of the two, showcasing talent such as Raiden, Vicious Circle, Break & Fierce to name but a few. The second is called ‘Subliminal’ which is usually a deeper affair aimed at the true Drum and Bass connoisseurs, featuring artists such as Digital, Outrage, Double O and Mantra.
Both our promotions are totally uncompromising. They represent the sounds we love and the artists we believe in. For us it’s not about booking the biggest name and charging a fortune to get in… Our nights are all about the music and those that want to be a part of it… We run ‘early bird’ free entry offers, drinks promotions, t-shirt / CD giveaways and much more to give our customers the best night we possibly can.

My Music:
Here we have some old solo stuff and some new colab work. I have finally got around to working on some new tunes with a couple of knowledgeable partners in Matt Sephiroth and Chris Overdrive. Both come from different sides of the D'n'B spectrum so I'm hoping to develop a range of styles with them using their software / equipment knowledge and my simple understanding of how beats and bass should work. 1st track off the Colab treadmill is a little something I assisted Matt Sephiroth with called 'From Another Planet'... Not totally finished as yet... Watch out for some more beats very soon.
My older solo work is nothing more than drum 'n' bass by numbers, a simple learning curve in how to use samples and create basic arrangements. These tracks were produced using my old faithful Atari 1040STe running Cubase V3, EMU ESi 4000 sampler, Midiverb and a Korg 05RW sound module. Extracts for your listening 'pleasure' ;-)
