In All Dishonesty's guitarists Anthony Rivera and Frank Modica grew up in Brooklyn, New York. They attempted to form bands for years, always unsuccessfully. In the summer of 2004 Anthony got together with fellow employee Kei Okubo (drums) and started to jam, forming the basis of In All Dishonesty. Frank soon joined the still nameless band after hearing the first song they wrote together. Kei and Anthony are also members of the band "Jehenna", and IAD attracted Jehenna's guitarist Aaron Joos, who joined as a vocalist. They later had their friend Stan R. join as the bassist, but he had to leave a year later due to unfortunate circumstances. Ali Hassan joined soon after and has been with the band since....until he was no longer in the band. Now Charles Dick of Devola will be rocking the fucking bass!! ...Until he was no longer rocking the fucking bass. Now we'd like to welcome our newest bass fretboard rapist, Matt Brennan.
The story of how the band got its name is not nearly as meaningful (or made up) as other bands. After being together for 8 months or so, IAD wanted to play their first show and needed a name. The only names that could be thought up were jokes, like "sperm whale", "straight-basher", and taking elements from the periodic table and attaching silly endings to them, like "boron-ica". Finally, Anthony said "how about 'In All Honesty' " and Frank said "how about 'In All DIS-honesty' ". And they played their first show under that name, and it stuck ever since.
IAD's music started out as a melodic blend of metal and hardcore (yes, they are a metalcore band, but don't prejudge it) and has been progressing to a more technical but still catchy direction ever since. Four songs have been recorded so far, and they are currently in the middle of recording a few new ones which will kill you. They should be up in a couple of months.
