Hola a tod@s!
Pues sí, nací en julio del 76 en Eibar, una pequeña ciudad situada en el centro de lo que internacionalmente se puede reconocer como Basque Country. Mi primer contacto con la música es a los 9 años, cuando mi padre me apunta en una academia para que aprenda a
tocar el acordeón, pero sin mucho éxito, por lo menos en cuanto a lo pentagrámico se refiere.
3 años mas tarde, y habiendo dejado las teclas ya de lado, sin antecedentes galaicos,y junto a un amigo de la infancia, me enrolé en un grupo gallego folklórico, en donde empecé a aprender a tocar el tambor, la flauta, la gaita..y a conocer el mundo de los festivales, las
actuaciones cara al público y diferentes culturas de la península..entre tantas otras cosas…
Poco a poco, los años van pasando y mis conocimientos musicales van creciendo al mismo ritmo, hasta que un buen día llega a mis oidos la música irlandesa, quien diría que años mas tarde, llegaría a viajar en varias ocasiones a ese país y así, poder disfrutar de ella al 100% desde sus raices…El caso es que actualmente, y después de haber soplado ya todo tipo de “chiflitas”,
ando metido a tope en el misterioso y extenso mundillo de la uilleann pipe(gaita irlandesa), que es lo que más curiosidad musical y dedicación acapara en los dias que corren.
Por otro lado, y totalmente paralelo a todo esto, os voy a contar otra historia que no tiene nada que ver con lo anterior, y es que también he estado siempre muy ligado al mundo de la batería. A los 14 años, y junto a unos compañeros del colegio, me senté al lado de unos improvisados tambores y nos pusimos a tocar versiones de los grupos que por entonces sonaban. Quien iba a decir que pocos años después, nacería el grupo de rock Luther, y que en casi una década de andadura, llegaríamos a ganar varios concursos, grabar 3 maketas, un videoclip, dos CDs discográficos, y a tocar en multitud de conciertos por toda la península,
llegando a compartir cartel con grupos de rock internacionalmente conocidos. Después de ya disolverse el grupo, con otra gente totalmente diferente,y queriendo mostrar las orientaciones musicales que nos gustan en la actualidad, creamos Flipin Folk, grupo que fusiona música celta, con funky, reague, ská…y que hasta la fecha cuenta con una maketa y diversas actuaciones en festivales y
concursos onda folk. En todos estos años y baterísticamente hablando, también he intervenido en grabaciones de maketas de varios cantautores de la zona, llegando a tocar posteriormente directos con diferentes y grandes músicos. Esporádicamente, y tambien desde
hace mucho tiempo suelo actuar en multitud fiestas y romerias de onda basque folk, junto al trikitrilari Jon Ansorregui.
La verdad es que en todos estos años, siendo un poco curioso e inquieto, como soy, y siempre abierto a cualquier estilo musical, me ha dado para hacer bastantes cosas, como por ejemplo escapadas veraniegas gaita y flautas en mano, a llenar los cascos antiguos de muchas ciudades del norte de la península de melodías celtas junto a dos colegas, teniendo siempre muy buena
aceptación por los ciudadanos de a pié, (el mejor público), o esa época que nos dio por la percusión africana, o todas las horas que metí grabando ese Cd de los Flipin Folk (el cual podéis escuchar)en mi humilde pero acogedor estudio, (Iñaki productions)je je je…
En fin, y todas las historias que me dejo en el tintero…pero es que si os explicaría todo sobre este “baterigaiterflautista” pues pasaría como con lo que acabáis de leer, que no os enteraríais de nada. Así que….por ahora…¡dejémoslo aquí!, ¿Vale?.
De todas formas, te agradezco por usar este valioso tiempo que a veces nos falta, en curiosear por estos lares sobre una pequeña parte de mi historia musical que ha ocupado una gran parte de mi vida. Nos vemos…quizás en cualquier festival, o quién sabe, quizás tocando en cualquier calle de cualquier lugar ….de todas formas, y desde aquí, te mando un fuerte SALUDETE hasta

Hi everybody!!
Yes, I was born in July, 1976 in Eibar, a town located in the middle of what internationally is known as the Basque Country. The first time I came into contact with music was when I was 9, and my father enrolled me in an academia to learn to play accordion. He didn..t obtain much success, at least with regard to staves and things related.Several years later…specifically when I was 12, having forgotten the keys, without any galician predecessor, and together with a childhood friend, I joined up in a folk galician group where I started to learn to play drum, whistle, bagpipe…and I discovered the Festivals World, the performances in front of an audience and the different cultures of the Peninsula….among many other things. Little by little, years go by and my musical knowledge grow up at the same time, until one beatifull day that Irish music reached to my ears. Who had said that some years later I would travel to Ireland several times, so I would be able to enjoy it closely. The fact is that at present, and after having blown all kind of whistles, I have got into the mysterious and huge world of the uilleann pipe (the irish pipe), which it is so hard to leave but also to get into.
Apart from that, and parallel to all this, I am going to tell you another story that does not have nothing to do with the previous one, it..s just that I have always had a close contact with the drums world. When I was 14, together with some of my classmates, I sat down next to some improvised drums and we started to play versions of the bands that sounded most at that moment. Who would have said that some years later it would spring up the rock band Luther, and that in almost a decade together, we achieved to win several contests, we recorded 3 demos, 2 record CD..s and we play in many concerts all over the peninsula, where we even shared stage with international rock bands. Once Luther band is dissolved, with different people and with the purpose of showing the musical orientations (musical likes) that we like,we found Flipin Folk, band that blends celtic music with funky, reague, ska…and that nowadays has a demo and several performances in Festivals and Folk Contests. In all these years and regarding to the drums, I have also taking part in different demo recordings with some singer-songwriters from the area where I live, playing later live concerts with wonderful musicians. Occasionally, during all this time I have been playing in tradicional folk eves tipically basque together with the “trikitrixa” (basque accordion) player Jon Ansorregui.
The truth is that in all these years, being a bit curious as I am, and always with my mind opened to any style of music, I have made the most of this time, and I have also made short summer trips with the bagpipes and whistles, to fill the old part of many cities and townswith celtic tunes together with two mates, being always very popular among the people (the best audience). And this other period when we played african percussion, or all the time I spent recording the Flipin Folk demo (that you can listen to) in my humble but cozy studio “Iñaki productions” Ha-ha….
Well, and all the stories that I won..t tell you… because if I explained you everything, maybe you would not understand anything… So, for the moment, we will stop at this point. All right?
Anyway, I am grateful for spending your valuable time that sometimes lacks, looking through a little part of my musical story that has taken up part of my life. La banda de Rebel folk Deiedra, editaremos un nuevo trabajo a mediados de diciembre. El disco en cuestión incluirá un tema nuevo, versiones inéditas, temas en directo y rarezas de estudio de la grabación de nuestro primer CD. Saldrá en formato single físico que regalaremos con los pedidos del CD y de manera independiente y lo colgaremos en la red. Con este nuevo trabajo cerramos un año más que intenso de conciertos, disco y un montón de anécdotas y vivencias…. Que están generando un puñado de nuevos temas de lo que será nuestro segundo disco, que será muy etílico y guerrero pero sin perder ese punto poético. A mediados de diciembre saldrá este single y cerraremos con los últimos bolos del año, aunque el Tour no para…
Pues aqui andamos trabajando duro, despues de grabar , mezclar y demas, estamosa la espera del master definitivo. Mientras estamos preparando el directo y buscando guitarrista desesperadamente.A ver si lo encontramos pronto, aunque esta dificil la cosa. El disco saldra en diciembre, asi que cada vez queda menos. Esperamos que vosotros tambien esteis bien, seguro que nos encontraremos dentro de poco. Un abrazo!

Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; "Broken-roofed buildings" are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

It was very nice to meet you and the rest of Flipin Folk in Helguera. We really hope to come back to Spain next year, maybe to play at the "Basque Country" Festival that you were talking about:)
