'Incarna EP Reviews'
The prog-thrash metal storm, part Soulfly, part Mastodon, that grinds and rages all night. They're gruff, growly, fast, tight and very 'eavy - what more do you want? Nightshift Oxford
'Intimidatingly young and already possessed of monstrous firepower. Balls of metal you might say'
Kerrang - KK
"An unholy combination of hardcore screeming and progressive thrash, this intriguing five track debut from Oxfordshires Incarna bodes well for the future"
Metal Hammer - 6/10
"Like the head rush that comes after standing up too quickly, 'Spires Deceased' calls for a response". . . "The band couldnt care less about convention, go all out on every track, and make for an addictive listen"
Terroriser - 6/10
'A full metal racket', 'At thier best when they let the noise unfold into creeping, progressive passages'
Rock Sound - 5/10
'Disordant, insane', 'These guys dont give a fuck about convention', 'This is metalcore at its angry heaviest and unpredictable best'
Big Cheese - 4/5
'Wielding a malevolent edge that draws you deeper and deeper within'
Subba-Cultcha
'The chest beating attack that's a signature for heavy music-but within that occasionally you find yourself rapping your head too- intelligent thrash?'
Glasswerk
'Intense and doom laden with crunchy, monsterous riffs but they're all shot through with layers of melody and quirky riffs and time signatures which means it stays with you and keeps you coming back for more'
Room Thirteen - 10/13
'Consider the mesmerising fretwork on display, the heavy as fuck beat downs and the band's intriging progressive learnings, it all means Spires Deceased is never anything less than a compelling listen from start to finish'
Rock Midgets - 3/5
'Past my initial astonishment, I actually grew to like, even love the bands antics! I mean Spires Deceased may well grow on me to the point of eventually making it into my 'Best Albums of 2008'-list'
Concrete Web - 91/100
'The songwriting is always changing and perpetually dynamic', 'These guys show TREMENDOUS amounts of potential. If they stay on the right track, they could write a string of amazing albums'
Metal Observer - 7.5/10

Incarna is a five-piece metal band from Oxfordshire UK. Formed way back in 2003 having just picked up their instruments, Incarna have grown from strength to strength since the arrival of a second guitarist in late 2005. With numerous shows and a couple of minor demo recordings under their belts, the band attracted the interest of UK labels, eventually making the decision to work with Casket Music/ Copro Productions (Earthtone 9, Fony, Panic Cell, Desecration, Forever Never, Mendeed, Cancer, Vacant Stare).
Incarna have finished recording their debut EP “Spires Deceased” at Philia Studios, Henley-on-Thames (Johnny Truant, Stampin’ Ground) and is a million miles away from anything the band have done previously. Working with Nick Hemingway on production duties (Cancer, Fony, Penknifelovelife and also drummer in ISOR), “Spires Deceased” is a fusion of the heaviness and brutality of modern metal, mixed with the band’s ever-evolving taste for more melodic and progressive musical passages. With an identity of their own and time on their side, Incarna are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for them.
Look out for the official release of “Spires Deceased” to be announced soon. Meanwhile, check out the tracks “Secular Flood” and “Nietzsche 1883” on this profile.
