Principles of Unity:
We at INCITE!:
1. Maintain a space by and for women of color. *
2. Center our political analysis and community action in the struggle for liberation. *
3. Support sovereignty for indigenous people as central to the struggle for liberation. *
4. Oppose all forms of violence which oppress women of color and our communities. *
5. Recognize the state as the central organizer of violence which oppress women of color and our communities. *
6. Recognize these expressions of violence against women of color as including colonialism, police brutality, immigration policies, reproductive control, etc. *
7. Link liberation struggles which oppose racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, ableism, ageism and all other forms of oppression. *
8. Support coalition building between women of color. *
9. Recognize and honor differences across cultures. *
10. Encourage creative models of community organizing and action. *
11. Promote shared leadership and decision-making. *
12. Recognize and resist the power of co-optation of our movements. *
13. Support these principles not only in our actions, but in the practices within our own organizations. *
14. Support the creation of organizational processes which encourage these principles and which effectively address oppressive individual and institutional practices within our own organizations. *
15. Discourage any solicitation of federal or state funding for Incite activities. *

I'm sure you're aware that the California DREAM Act has been once again presented to the governor for approval. This year, we will once again mobilize the young people of our state to demand that the DREAM Act be approved. To do this, I'm asking that you forward the bulletin (in comments, as bulletins or messages) to as many people as possible and try to be present at the march yourself ! I can answer any questions you have regarding technical things . Just ask . :D
