Incremental Records is three things:
  1. A label.
  2. An online store for (mostly) Brisbane bands - COMING SOON.
  3. a DIY recording facility (operating in Inner-West Brisbane) run by Cameron Smith.

Send a message if you want to be recorded (or email incrementalrecords AT gmail DOT com). Check out our website where you can see RATES, technical stuff, photos, discography, etc.

Some notes about the songs in the player:

No Anchor - Everything You Say: This is an alternate version of this song, recorded, mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith at Incremental. The original version appears on the album 'Steam' (2009) and was mixed and mastered by Lawrence English.

Little Scout - Dead Loss: Recorded track-by-track. This version mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith (EP version mastered by Matthew Gray Mastering). This track appears on the 'Dead Loss EP' (2008) and the 'Stranded' Brisbane Music Compilation (2008).

The John Steel Singers - Mother (Acoustic): Recorded live with percussion and accordion overdubbed. Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track is available as an Itunes bonus track for their EP 'In Colour' (2008).

Rialto Decibel Choir - Packages And Postcards: Recorded live with vocals overdubbed (vocals recorded by Nick Smethurst). Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track appears on the 'Stranded' Brisbane Music Compilation (2008).

One Shot Salute - Town Drunk, First Month: Recorded live with vocals overdubbed. Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track appears on a limited release EP (2009).

Deux Garcons - Death In The Family: Recorded live with vocals overdubbed. Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track appears on a limited release EP (2009).

Mt Augustus - The Warmest Winter: Recorded track-by-track in a bedroom (not in usual Incremental room). Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track appears on the 'Stranded' Brisbane Music Compilation (2008).

Buildings Melt - Sad Faces: Recorded live, with the second drum track overdubbed. Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track will appear on 'We're All Going To Be Dirt In The Ground' (2009).

No Anchor - Four Keys: Recorded live with vocals overdubbed and one re-amped bass track added. Mixed and mastered by Cameron Smith. This track is an outtake from the album 'Fire Flood & Acid Mud' (2008) and appears on the 'Stranded' Brisbane Music Compilation (2008).

Toy Balloon Tour!

Brisbane outfit Toy Balloon will release their debut album Toy Division on November 8 through Lofly Records, and to celebrate will perform an east coast launch tour throughout November.

Formed in 2007, Toy Balloon was originally a fledgling two-piece made up by Nimai Etheridge’s uniquely melodic wall-of-sound guitar and Greg Cooper’s beautiful sequenced electronic compositions. The band have since matured into a four piece featuring Chloe Cooper (Mr Maps) on key boards and Ben Green on drums.

The album was recorded and mixed at the Lofly Hangar in Brisbane, a DIY performance space that Toy Balloon has been an integral part of creating. Fostering emerging artists and left-of-centre music, the Hangar acts as a performance space, recording studio, and meeting place; and has resulted in a record with a rich, layered sound reminiscent of New Order, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, and LCD Soundsystem.

Catch Toy Balloon launch Toy Division at a venue near you this Oct/ November.

TOY BALLOON TOUR DATES:

Brisbane- Thursday 29 October- The Zoo, Fortitude Valley w/ Moon Jog, Tin Can Radio and Doom Doom.

Sydney- Wednesday 4 November- ‘Upstarts’ at Spectrum, Darlinghurst w/ Convaire and Black Bear Brown Bear

Sydney- Thursday 5 November- Oxford Arts Factory, Darlinghurst w/ World Champion and others

Melbourne- Saturday 7 November- Pony, Melbourne w/ Love Connection and Aoi

Melbourne- Sunday 8 November- El Joyero, Melbourne

Toy Division is released November 6 on Lofly Records, with distribution through MGM.

"Also hugely enjoyable, highly original AND psychically useful is the music of Australian duo The Scrapes, whose fiery epic guitar and abandoned Mithraic fiddle pieces evoke images of lost Keltic lands inundated by the oceans, lost Iberian & Armorican sea peoples and lost times from beyond the beyond." Julian Cope

Welcome to the planet of the Scrapes. Everything that you know has crumbled and your monuments have returned to the Earth. The Metropolis is no more. The pavement is cracked with tree roots pulsing like veins through hills that never end. This is the future you never predicted even when its icy grip tugged at your wrist. There is a real beauty to it though...the victory of nature over corruption...the sound of trees rustling against rusted industry...the cry of birds above the din of ceaseless traffic...a post-industrial caterwaul from the darkest corners of your memory. Our place is dark, but there are cracks of light through the canopy and a different kind of life thrives here. The air is warm but the wind is cold and the horizon never ends. A landscape both familiar and forgotten...ancient yet regenerative. There are no masters here so close your eyes and forget everything you remember.

That song is our stoner anthem about bad pot experiences. If you've had a bad pot experience, and you're reading this, please msg us for possible inclusion of your anecdote within the songs lyrics (which are only half done).
