IDMW JUKE BOX # 4
Here we are with the fourth installment of our Juke Box displayin’ a whole bunch of soon to be released hot choons speakin’ of which we thought it was our absolute duty to give the maximum of exposure we can.
We first and foremost would like to thank the artists, producers and label managers for blessing us with their upcomin’ projects which we consider as a rare sign of trust & support with the hope this will contribute givin’ them the recognition they truly deserve. Welcome on board & remember where you’ve heard those first!
BODDHI SATVA featuring YUBA - The Depth Of The Source(Offering Records)
Taken from the‘Ode To Ancestral Healing EP’ the title of this cut say it all, with Boddhi Satva goin’ straight to the epicenter of his roots alongside Yuba on the MC’s seat twisting African rhythms over darkphonk synth effects…
ALTON MILLER - Together (Seed Recordings)
The Chicago soon to be based DJ/artist/producer pleading guilty on this bumpin’ soulful crime which has killed me at first listen…
JESSICA WILLIAMS - Mingle With The Night (Paradax)
Nuttin’ but the exception on this California-based indie label offering us one of the warmest female voices over one of the warmest grooves around…
FRANCK ROGER - Gigolo (Real Tone)
The 5 Beats Parisian host goin’ cinematic on this lectrodisco-influenced killer groove getting where Giorgio Moroder left with ‘Fron Here To Eternity’…
EZEL - Spirits In My House (Yoruba/advance)
Quite an exciting period for our man on his way to open his account under this new guise with what’s gonna be his debut-LP on Yoruba. Coundn’t resist givin’ you this little appetizer although we’ll keep our mouth shot for the mo’ as far as the identity of the aforementioned is concerned…
JEPTHE GUILLAUME & WILTRUD WEBER - Blue & Deep (Tet Kale)
No doubt, one of the tracks of the last WMC for those willin’ for more than the usual 4X4 formatted house grooves. A surprising cocktail resulting in an Opera trained German female singer remaining true to what she is on an Afro/Caribbean environment…
JOZANA featuring REGGIE HALL - The Hard Way (Private World Records)
Chicago-based DJ/producer Jozana on his way to launch his own label with this first release awaited to be out by the middle of May featuring vet singer Reggie Hall and remixes by the likes of Blaze…
DJ ROMAIN - Empire Of Africa (Nu Faze)
NYC-based DJ Romain reachin ‘another absolute peak with this trancey Afro tribal corker…
KAL DOS SANTOS - Oxema (Casamena Basement edit)
Taken from the famous Carlos Mena collection of reedits, the # 2 of which is soon awaited for release. For the Afro/Latin headz.
FUDGE & MANI HOFFMAN - Keep On (Remixes) (Stalwart)
As it says, taken from the remix package of the latest, with UK-based the Layabouts ready to take the floors by storm with this phonky deep-tech influenced jam…
The author of both the epic ‘Love & Desire’ which happened to be our 2007 favorite and the recently released ‘The Pilgrimage EP’ on Consortium Muzik definitely rocks behind the decks…
GONE WITH THE PARADISE... (A TRIBUTE TO MEL CHEREN)
Words are missing to express how I feel since I’ve been told about the news of your passing, Mel. But in reverse, I’d like to think that you’re now standing by the countless of those of your brothers and sisters who’ve already gone…
My dear Mel,
I feel like an orphan, surrounded by an immense emptiness and I’m pretty sure I’m far from being the only one. With you now definetely away from our sight, I guess it’s to many of us a significant part of the things which have made us becoming who we are that comes back to our minds, not to say a part of our lives. From the countless anonymous clubbers who’ve made the Paradise Garage their home at the time to the fans who’ve come to the disco/funk sound because of you among a handful of others, to those, as countless, you’ve graced both with your love, commitment and faith in a brighter future, here in your native America as elesewhere in the world.
As I said to you in Miami back in 2002, living on the other side of the Pond, I was far from figuring that our paths would cross one day when buying my first West End 12’’. I mean, America where I’d never got at the time was to me synonymous with the notions of dream and freedom, not to say fantasy. I was lucky enough to be given WBLS mixed tapes by a friend of mine whose sister was livin’ in NYC, whereas we could discover the latest sensations from the Paradise Garage (thanks to the late Frankie Crocker) which we couldn’t wait havin’ on 12’’. And although this might seem kinda crazee, if not fetichist, I remember myself havin’ a quick smell inside when opening those sealed goodies, as if it was like gettin’ a little breathe from America in the mean time. So it is to say how the way you’ve welcomed me as a member of your family touched the deepest of my heart and gave some extra sense to my life as an observer and my dedication to the cause which has had us meeting.
My dearest Mel, today I cry the loss of a spiritual father but as on such circumstances, I guess – and this applies to all of those who’re in the same case – I’d rather focus on the positive side of the things being the moments and the souvenirs we’ve shared and the consistent legacy you live behind you, such as your continuous enthusiasm despite your numerous sufferings, your incredible energy, not to mention what you’ve built along with time.
As far as I’m humbly concerned, I can’t think of a better way to honour your memory than keep on spreadin’ to the attention of the new generations what you’ve taught us along the years: Music is the Message and Love is the Answer…
With my eternal love, Mel. R.I.P.(aradise)…
Frederic

Who are we?
Always Kinda hard answerin’ this question… But to make this short, we’re INDAMIX meaning as it says that we’re pretty much at the crossroad of different vibes (from soul to disco, house, nu jazz, Afro, Latin, hip hop, R&B), moods (from heartfelt to festive, chillin’ or even dark). + we’re WORLDWIDE with the help of a whole bunch of editorialists comin’ from # continents, countries, ethnics, cultures with # ages, backgrounds and positions in the music field.
In other words, we do nothing but spread to the attention of the upcomin’ generations the spirit inherited from both the Philadelphia Sound (thanks to producers Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff) and the disco daze as embodied by both Fabrice Emaer and Guy Cuevas at Le Palace in Paris + Mel Cheren and Larry Levan at NYC’s Paradise Garage.

MFSB Vs.
Work looks like never endin’ here on IDMW with yours truly invited by djontv head Ludovic Marcellin to give birth to a new series of live footages titled MFSBVs. where, as suggested, I’m gettin’ on the other side of the screen to interview some of the hottest artists, producers & DJ’s around. Here we go again on our MFSB Vs. series of live footages, chatting with none other than one half of Blaze production team and NYC Wednesdays at Cielo Roots co-host alongside Louie Vega. Ladies & gents, brothers & sistas, please welcome… Kevin Hedge!
