In Darklight are a 4 piece alternative/experimental/rock band from Andover, Hampshire.
In Darklight was formed in late 2004, although all members have been gigging/writing/recording together under different names since 1998. In late 2005, In Darklight finished their first 6 track EP, entitled 'Foreground/Background EP'. In 2006, In Darklight recorded a 2 track single entitled 'Too Tired To Sleep', both of which are available to buy at gigs. Later on in the same year, In Darklight recorded 2 more tracks and released them as a special MySpace download. These two songs go by the names of 'Colours' and 'Greenhouse'. You can download these songs for free by emailing the band.
Here are a few venues we have played live sets at: The Clapham Grand (Clapham), The Dublin Castle (Camden), The Bull and Gate (Kentish Town), Leonards (Clerkenwell), Plan B (Brixton), The Angel (Islington), The Loaded Dog (Leytonstone), The Boileroom (Guildford), Unit 22 (Southampton), The Railway (Winchester), The George (Andover), The Star (Guildford), The Cellars (Portsmouth), Bristol University, and Guildford University. In Darklight have also been featured on XFM, Express FM, and Echo FM, have been in magazines such as Musicians Union, Rhythm, Future Music and Drunk White Hippys, and had CDs in Fopp. Unfortunately Fopp has now gone into liquidation. WHAT THEY SAY....
"If the Stone Roses were to reunite and update their sound a good tad, they would (hopefully) sound like this!!! Lots of Kasabianesque experimental elements but the 90's Brit pop and Happy Mondays are bound to be influences here…" - The Dublin Castle, London
"...a vibrant splash of alternative rock and look set to make waves on the southern rock scene...Energised vocals...tight and expressive unit...a musical maturity that belies their youth. Very Promising." - Musicians' Union
"Psychedelic and intense." - Math Priest, Rhythm Magazine
"In Darklight are a young band with a powerful eerie sound and a lot of talent." - Room Thirteen 11/13
"...In Darklight hit the right buttons and have created an accomplished and ambitious mini-album..." - Heathen Angel 7/10 (Foreground/Background EP Review)
E.P. Track 3 - 'Blame' "...Love it! Especially when it goes off towards the end. Great!" - Academy of Contemporary Music
"Hailing from Andover, In Darklight have a predominantly indie feel to them, but have a well-polished and highly addictive sound. In Darklight have a sound that uses the best elements of rock in an easily accessible and university educated way." - Room Thirteen 10/13 (Too Tired To Sleep Single Review)
"In Darklight's high energy debut throws together the band's wide-ranging influences and showcases an original youthful sound." - Andover Advertiser
