About In Defiance Of Light (Next show SEPT. 18th!)
BIO: In Defiance Of Light was initially formed in the fall season of the year 2007. Forged out of the remnants of the melodic death metal band Vengance (lead guitar) Austin Bron-Kaiser, (rythm guitar) Joey Trenchuk, And (Bassist) Tj Pendell, The new title was meant to follow an new uniqe sound the three stringed instruments were developing. A much heavier underground sound. Initially some little douche named Paul was playing drums, but it quickly became evident that the three musketeers of the strings were filled with much more potential than the one track drummer was achieving, and the hunt for a new drummer began... Upon the introduction of the new title of In Defiance Of Light a vocalist (Bobby Yulitin) was brought in to fill the lyricless void, but as with Paul the core of the group knew the relationship musically would be short lived. In January of 2008 Austin reconnected with an old friend and Alex Judd stepped into the picture to save the day as far as drums were concerned. But the history does not stop there...
Alex and Austin first connected in 2003, and learned to play thier respective instruments together. The resulting jam sessions paved the way for thier first band to form. A Three Piece punk and thrash band called Second Class Citizens was the product of thier dialy jamming routines (2004). Guillermo Carrera joined the group on the bass guitar after jamming with Austin and Alex for weeks, songs had been written and the search for a vocalist was on! Unfortunately (or fortunately for you) there was no voice to be found for the group and the decision was made that Austin would sing the songs for the group at least untill a suitable vocalist was found, but never was one found, and Austin became a multi-tasker, learning to sing while playing... And history was changed. Second Class Citizens became fairly popular in the local high school music scene but no fruition was seen of the dream and needing desperately to progress the music the group split ways and called it done in the summer of 2005. But meanwhile...
Joey Trenchuk had been writing songs with Tj Pendell for a thrash metal band called Brutality, Featuring a number of douche bags playing lead guitar Mr tim on the drums. The band was struggling to stay together and just after SCC split Brutality did the same. The two bands had played shows together and primarily attended the same schols so a foundation of the musical relationship had been well established. In the summer of 2005 Joey and Austin began jamming out simple songs in a melodic death taste, and desperate to play music with a group the search for members of a band began... Tj pendell stunned Austin immediately at his tryout, it was clear his potential had been wasted in his previous efforts at playing in bands. The decision was made to bring him in on the simplistic jam sessions and the core was established. As far as drums went there were few decent musicians about to jam with so the group went with a sure bet Tim and Vengance was forged...
The group Vengance gigged regularly and made a small name for themselves in the local Denver music scene, But after the release of the Razors Edge ep (an 8 song effort ) (Summer 2007), the group lost touch with tim and began crafting a heavier more complex sound, the first traces of semen that formed In Defiance Of Light. Vocalist Bobby Yulitin was brought in as well as Paul on drums and IDOL was born. After Alex Came back into the picture it was clear the group was gaining in potential, but lacking the vocal energy and commitment they desired the decision to replace Bobby with Adam Nesmajanow was clear. Another close friend of the groups, Adam worked to maintain the level of commitment desired by the group, but shortly after the core four members moved into a house and began building the IDOL Productions recording studio it became clear that his dedication and vocal abilities were lacking in what the group desired. Frustrated and driven the group made the decision to rely on themselves for vocular arrangement. Once again Austin was singing and playing (or screaming I should say) But this time it was different because he had a partner in crime... The official announcement of the new vocalists shocked many long time fans but was welcomed openly and supported after the first show with the new vocal lineup. To this day In Defiance Of Light remains a four piece group with two vocalists. Focused on getting thier music heard and making a living pursuing thier passion, they remain self produced by engineer Austin Bron-Kaiser, courtesy of thier very own recording studio IDOL Productions.
In Defiance Of Light has been one of the more genre twisting acts in the Denver metal scene and remains strong playing with other bands they believe in and never losing sight of the final goal. Complete and utter world domination. The sound crafted through brutal melody and mind twisting percussivness has honed them thier own niche in the local scene and created a sound that is truly one of a kind.
