Indelusion

At the beginning of 2006 Patrick Raikes Spitta – vocals – and Daniel Scott Lea – bass guitar – the first of whom is Anglo-German, born and raised in Colombia and the second of whom is an Englishman who has been living in Colombia for several years – decide to form a band and set about finding the other musicians. The first band line-up is completed with John Barragan Castellanos on the drums, Alejandro Vergara on the keyboards/rhythm guitar and Charlie Brooman White on lead guitar.

To begin with the band concentrates it’s efforts on playing cover versions of their favourite bands, resulting in some interesting versions of songs by bands such as the Verve, Blur, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys as well as doing some classic covers of artists like the Smiths, David Bowie, The Clash and The Rolling Stones.

The unexpected and tragic death of Charlie in October of 2006 obliges the band to look for another guitarist, resulting in David Carrascal joining the band. 2 years later Alejandro decides to travel abroad to further his music studies so Daniel starts playing rhythm guitar and Michael Lawless joins the band as the new bass player. 6 months later Dan has to leave to work abroad and soon after Michael leaves the band. Santiago Mejia, a bass player who had worked with John in previous projects joins the band in February 2009 resulting in a definitive 4 man format.

Due to the aforementioned changes the band’s creative process was constantly interrupted, but thanks to the new found stability and the encouragement of all the people who came to see the band in 2009 in the main bars of Bogota and the perseverance of the four remaining members, Indelusion releases a 4 track EP in January 2010 which reflects the interesting Indie sound that the band has managed to create in these few years. This sound is in good part based on the raw and dynamic vocals of Patrick, which are powerfully delivered. This EP was coproduced with Alejandro Oviedo, an old friend of the band, whose input results in a production of the highest quality and who will no doubt continue working with the band even more as the results of this excellent production start to show themselves.

Regarding live gigs, the only thing that is certain is a guarantee of audience satisfaction! An adrenaline discharge by Patrick and the band coupled with the perfect interpretation that the band members make of each of his moves and the decided intention to have a good time make Indelusion one of the most exciting live acts around. So if it’s a case of seeing something out of the ordinary, Indelusion fits the bill perfectly, though one can never be sure of ending the night wearing the same clothes!!

A principios de 2006 Patrick Raikes Spitta-voz-y Daniel Scott Lea-bajo-, el primero ingles-aleman nacido y criado en Colombia y el segundo ingles radicado en Colombia hace algunos años, decididos a formar un grupo, se dan a la tarea de conseguir a los demás músicos, completando de esta forma la primera formación de Indelusion con John Barragán Castellanos-batería-, Alejandro Vergara-teclados y guitarra- y Charlie Brooman White-guitarra-. En principio la banda se concentra en poner a punto algunos covers de sus grupos favoritos. Es así como comienzan a mostrar en sus primeras apariciones interesantes versiones de The Verve, Blur, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, así como también de algunos clásicos de The Smiths, David Bowie, The Clash y Rolling Stones.

En Octubre de 2006, la inesperada muerte del guitarrista Charlie, obliga a la banda a buscar un nuevo guitarrista y es así como David Carrascal se une a los demás integrantes. Dos años más tarde, Alejandro decide viajar a continuar sus estudios musicales fuera del país, por lo cual Daniel pasa del bajo a la guitarra rítmica, con el fin de llenar el vacío dejado por el teclado e ingresa Michael Lawless a ocuparse del bajo. Un año más tarde Dan Scott se ve obligado a abandonar el país por cuestiones relacionadas con su trabajo y poco después Michael deja la banda. Santiago Mejía, bajista que anteriormente había trabajado junto a John en otros proyectos entra a completar la formación actual y definitiva del grupo, quedando este convertido finalmente en un cuarteto.

Debido a los mencionados cambios que ha sufrido la banda, el proceso creativo se ha visto de alguna manera entorpecido, pero finalmente y luego de mucha insistencia de quienes han seguido la trayectoria del grupo en los más importantes bares de Bogotá y la perseverancia de los cuatro integrantes, Indelusion aparece este 2010 con un extended play de 4 canciones, como una primera muestra del interesante sonido Indie que ha logrado desarrollar la banda a través de estos años, cuyo sello se encuentra sin duda en la marca registrada de la voz áspera y contundente de Patrick. Una excelente producción realizada en colaboración con Alejandro Oviedo, un viejo amigo de la banda, quien seguramente, luego de los buenos resultados obtenidos, seguirá acompañándoles.

Con respecto a la puesta en escena de Indelusion, lo único seguro es una garantía de satisfacción. Una descarga de adrenalina conducida por Patrick y la banda, acompañada por la perfecta interpretación que hace la banda de cada uno de sus gestos y por una decidida intencion de pasarla bien entre todos. Así que si de asistir a un espectáculo algo fuera de lo común, Indelusion es absolutamente confiable, aunque no sea seguro terminar la noche con la misma ropa puesta.
