   關於 frank raven
Frank Raven is a veteran of legendary Chicago bands bohemia, Slammin'Watusis, The Blue Watusis, Iggy Yokam and His Famous Pogo Ponies, and The Frank Raven Band. Some of his earliest playing experiences on the Chicago scene include Blue Monday Jam Sessions with Lefty Dizz and Buddy Guy at the original Checkerboard Lounge on 43rd Street and a 4-year stint leading the Fast Frank Band of which John Milward, critic for the Chicago Reader and later Rolling Stone Magazine, wrote "This band makes the Ramones look like the Stones". Frank has studied music with Edward Wilkerson Jr. at the AACM School of Music and with Delmark recording artist Rich Corpolongo. Frank's recording credits include 6 records with bohemia including a Billboard "Hot Pick" and 2 albums with Sony Epic recording artists The Slammin' Watusis. His contributions on blues harp, saxophone, and songwriting helped set these groups apart from the pack and transcend their rock roots to become true examples of Chicago style music. The Blue Watusis "Welcome to the House of the Blues", Frank Raven and the Blue Watusis "Blues on a Stick", The Frank Raven Band's "Sunday Driver" and Chicago Breakdown", and most recently Frank Raven and Dave Menet's "Cadillac Baby...Live & Raw" all feature songs written by Frank Raven and Jim Desmond. Frank's harp playing is showcased on the as yet unreleased Iggy Yoakam album produced by John Langford and Dave Trumfio. His solo recordings include the highly acclaimed "The Sadness of Winter" and "This Dream's on Me". As a guest soloist he has played on countless recordings for groups such as The Insiders, The Juleps, Texas Rubies, Pat Hall & The Fat Guys, and Prong. Raven/Desmond Songs represents the coming together of two reknowned Chicago music talents. Originally teaming up to write songs for the Blue Watusis, a progressive blues group they co-led in the early 1990's, they have since expanded their songwriting repertoire to include country, rock, soul, and gospel. Their post-Watusis cds "New Country and Blues", "More New Country" ,"Shake It Down" , "Best of the Blues" and "Live From Chicago"are available at www.cdbaby.com/group/ravendesmondsongs

You need to check out the new Victoria "Blowbox" Harp amp! I was instrumental in designing and getting into their line of top shelf amps. Go to youtube and search me "James Reeser" and there are a couple of recent vids featuring it.

It is a 45 watt 2X8 amp. It looks like a tweed head but yes it has 2 8" speakers in it. No one can believe such a fat rich tone comes from a little amp. It is versatile... light weight... It can be plugged into any speaker cab as it has 2, 4 and 8 ohm output taps. It also has a switch that makes it either a stock 59 Bassman if that is your tone (also for guitar if desired) or flip the switch for the harp special circuits and rich fat harp tone! And yes has plenty of power as a stand alone to keep up with just about any band.

Ten DANK things you can do to help legalize marijuana (in no particular order).

1. Write a letter to a policy maker. This can be local, state or federal level-if we all take the time to do this it makes a huge difference. Take a few minutes to an hour to draft a letter-then once a week take five minutes-send it to a different official, when there is a bill related to marijuana you will have a good base.
DANK recommends using a government website or visiting http://www.makepotlegal555.org to find address information for legislators.

2. Encourage others to write their legislators-each time you write to one, pass the name and address around to your like minded friends-get them writing in, too.

3. Volunteer for a Pro-Cannabis event! Look on online, maybe there is one in your area-there are several on the DANKinfo website and at least once volunteer for Seattle Hempfest-you will be impacted in unimaginable ways.
For more info: http://hempfest.org/drupal/Volunteers

4. Attend a Pro-Cannabis event! Bring your friends and family members-especially those that would like to be better educated on the drug war and related issues. See the DANKinfo website for a list and once again, I must say (maybe I am biased) at least once in your life attend Seattle Hempfest-the third week of August.
See http://www.hempfest.org/drupal for more info.
Another good choice is the Global Marijuana March (www.globalmarijuanamarch.org).
Check the website for it-there is likely a march planned near you—if not see #9

5.
Support organizations such as LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php), where the proponents of changing the law are those whom have enforced it and seen the failures first hand. Methods of support include donating, volunteering, passing out fliers, attending events, passing on info, re-posting MySpace bulletins, etc.

6.
Donate money to those organizations who are influencing policy change-great examples are NORML (www.norml.org),

"We walked around a lake and woke up in the rain and everyone turned over troubled in their dreams again. I kissed you in the water and made your dry lips sing I saw you look like a Japanese baby in an instant I remembered everything..." Maybe you know what song that is from. I had to shoot part of this video underwater at night in Savannah Georgia. That was the night I found out that I'm not good at holding my breath. We were afraid they'd get banned on myspace, so we made a video channel on Youtube. Youtube. com/thesupercult L/K Apnea and Chase Lisbon P.S.

American Correctional Association is holding its 138th Anuual "Congress " this year in new Orleans, August 8-13,
DANK is working to put together an event to oppose them...some ideas for names include "The 1st Annual Drug War Freedom Congress","1st Annual Drug War Education Congress", "1st Annual People's Congress on Prison Reform", and "1st annual Drug War Unification Congress"

We are trying to fill six days of Speakers and Teachers:

August 8-Education
Drug War Impact on Students and the Educational Systems of America
.. Drug Education and Use-Effects of Ending the Drug War
August 9-Medical
Drug War impact on the Medical Community
Patient/Doctor Issues
Marijuana as Medicine
Pharmaceutical Companies Role in Drug War
August 10-Industry
Industrial Hemp Uses
Industrial Hemp Growth-Planetary Benefit of
Industrial Hemp and the Economy
August 11-The Constitution and Drug Policy
Prisoners Rights
Effects on Families
Prison Labor and the 13th Ammendment
How the Prison System Profits by Prohibiting your Right to "Persuit of Happiness"
August 12-Personal Freedom
Religion and the Drug War
Life, Liberty, AND the Persuit of Happiness
Defining Personal Freedom
August 13-Unification Day
Open Forum Discussion/Teach-in, Multi-Topic
Unity and Activism

Each Day will aslo fewature a rally for its specified Topic, and the final day, August 13, will be a larger rally, including everyone...

since 1870 the ACa has done all it can to make money off of locking people up-this includes lobbying for Mandatory Minimums, More Surveilance, JAG Laws, etc
It is time to stop them...I have looked and each year someone hosts a protest...together our whispers become a scream...
please join us in this important event-we need folks to volunteer, sponsor, speak, teach, march, house participants, and right now to PLAN this out...
Conatct us Via myspace or email gloria@dankinfo.com for more information or hel
