About me:

Indiana Youth Group
The Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival is an annual fundraising event benefiting the Indiana Youth Group (IYG), a non-profit organization founded in 1987 to serve the needs of Indiana LGBT teens.

IYG provides a safe place, a confidential environment, and services which foster self-esteem, resiliency, and positive decision-making skills among self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender young people (up through age 21), and advocates on their behalf in schools, on the streets, and in the community.

IYG's youth activity center has free social activities and support groups/programming on: Coming out, Vocational testing/counseling, Sex, dating & relationships, Creative writing, Tobacco-free lifestyle, Scholarships, Visual arts, and Sexually transmitted disease/infection education, prevention, and testing. All of IYG's $214,000 operating budget must be raised annually from donations, grants, and special events including the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival.

News!
The festival moves to a new home in 2009. The Indianapolis Museum of Art at the intersection of 38th and Michigan Road, will host our films on Friday and Saturday, and the IUPUI Campus Center will host a selection of shorts and documentaries on Sunday. Lots of new and exciting changes coming your way!

Monday, 4/7 is the deadline to register to vote/change your voting address in order to vote in the 5/6 primary election in Indiana.

The voter registration/change of address form, accepted by all 92 counties, is online: http://www. in. gov/sos/elections/pdfs/50504. pdf .

To register to vote in Indiana, you must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years old on or before 11/4/08, have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days prior to 5/6 (except for certain military voters), and not currently be imprisoned after being convicted of a crime.

If you have moved since the last time you voted, you may also use the application to do the mandatory transfer of your registration to your current address.

Do it soon! The deadline is Monday, 4/7!

Many thanks to the ILGBTFF staff and audiences for embracing "signage." I am so appreciative to have been included in the festival in the first place...and blown away to be awarded the AT&T Pioneers First Place juried prize.

Love Unites Our Families:

Our LGBT children, families and friends are being targeted. Love Won Out, a Focus on the Family reparative therapy program, is coming to Indianapolis on November 3. They're teaching oppression and family divisiveness in the guise of love. Join us to peacefully counteract this dangerous message.

WHAT: A Peaceful Gathering in Celebration of our LGBT Loved Ones

WHEN: Saturday, November 3, 7:30 - 8:30 am, then again from 5:00 - 6:00 pm

WHERE: Along the road near Traders Point Christian Church, 6590 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 46075

(Just NW of the I-465 Loop. From I-65 North, take exit 130, turn left onto 334. Park at the truck stop on the right just before S. Indianapolis Rd. where the church campus is located just to the south. You'll be shuttled to the gathering area.)

Join us as we come together to honor love and inclusiveness. Signs will be available or bring your own -- please keep in mind that we want to convey a positive message of love and acceptance. This might be a good time to wear your "Would Jesus Discriminate?" t-shirt.

For more information call Annette at (317) 872-1385 or email info@indypflag.org.
