Indicity Records strikes again. The Atomic Atoms are proof that they have a stable of kick ass artists. The music on Electrophile is blistering rock resembling the early thump of Modest Mouse pumping Elvis Costello + Husker Du’s heartbeat. [Wabbitz an aside …] As I type, my bunny is hanging with me outside the window. We bonded earlier when he was chilling out at the bird feeder waiting in the wings of that rabid squirrel munching on all his feed. Bastard! It’s sad to see the bunny graying … this may be his last summer. I know it and realize that, hell; I may not have too many summers. Who knows? Damn it! My wife just drove in and gestured to me about lugging in “our” purchases. In the meantime, she chased away my bunny and our moment. [Back to the music …] The Atomic Atoms have THAT everything. The outfit is flexible and hyped on barbed speed. God I love bands that flip around expertly. With many acts, such freedom is shocking and even laughable. Electrophile has an irrepressible spirit. The lyrics are paranoid, angry and twisted and also balance exceptionally well with their quirky boogie. My silly word-pawing cannot do the cuts justice. Every track plays well, but the primo compositions are “Feedback Pirouette”, “ I Won’t Hold My Breath”, “Psalm 27” and “Irrational”.
