Usually anything that can be found on a banned books list, but I'm currently trying to read: Trail of Tears, God is Red, Under the Black Flag, Way of the Pirate, I Am America (And So Can You!), The Bourne Identity, Vanity Fair, and The Pirate Primer. (Yeah, I'm a reader) My favorite book thus far is Walk for Justice by Harry "Goodwolf" Kindess. This is only a SELECT FEW of the books I own. I'm obsessed with the written word. Literacy is sexy, baby. KNOW THAT. I am a member of FOCAL (Friends of the Central Arkansas Library). I really want to get started working with kids who can't read or mentoring something - maybe when I start getting 6+ hours of sleep on a consecutive basis that will be an option. I love the expression on people's faces (my own included) when I've read a new idea, an old idea recycled in new wrappings, learning a new word, its definition and the fact that it, like most other things in the American way of life are no longer utilized or shared (I'm a people watcher). Language is beautiful and I want to learn MANY! So please, for the love of God, pick up a book and read. If you can't read, find someone who can help you learn. (I do get the complete irony of someone being illiterate and not being able to read this - so those who ARE literate - read it to them!)Heroes

About me:

Some people gauge their lives by the places they have gone and the things they have accomplished... Me, I gauge mine by the books I read, the music I listen to and the movies I see. I have several things going on in my life. I am an amateur filmmaker. I've been working on a screenplay that I hope to have shot on Mini-DV at SOME point. I am interested in cinematography and possibly becoming a Director of Photography at some point. But probably will wind up being a Director and dealing for the most part with Independent/Short Films, although I am open to some of the mainstream market. As I am having to learn to be my own scriptwriter and director, the process has been interesting to say the least. My gig is more art house. I am simultaneously pursuing my Master's in Secondary Education. I will most likely return to get my MA & PhD in History so that I can teach college. I've decided to pursue two lifestyles and careers. And who the hell's to say I can't have them both?! Choices, my friend, choices. I'm a paradox wrapped in an enigma. Figure it out. ;-)

God, there's nothing I hate more than mediocre teachers and their lackluster passion for what they do. I find you appalling, an insult to the profession, and you should be lit on fire for your educational atrocities.
