  • Bio

Growing up in a traditional Southern Baptist family deeply-rooted in the soil of Memphis, Tennessee, it's no surprise that Jeremiah Clark's passion for music has been handed down through countless generations. "Music surrounded me from my very first memories. The joy, the drive, the love of music and making it was always celebrated in our home. Every single person in my family was blessed with this gift in their own special way, and I am honored, with great humility, to carry on this beautiful legacy." If you had asked him what he wanted to be as a grown-up, the term "musician" was always waiting impatiently on the tip of his tongue. Early in his adolescence, this young pioneer found himself standing before crowds of hundreds of people singing in local, regional and state choirs winning competitions and praise from many classically-trained professionals. In between long school days and extracurricular activities, when most teenagers were going to parties, dances and the like, Jeremiah was cutting his first demo at the age of fourteen followed by his first self-produced album just two years later. A self-taught pianist and guitarist, this new artist's religious journey is clearly depicted in his first release Lead the Way from 2001. This debut includes mostly original material with influence drawn from artists such as Alison Krauss, Nichole Nordeman and Mark Schultz. After promoting the contemporary Christian release in local churches and coffeehouses and selling over 300 copies, Clark's journey took a turn after joining a Unitarian church as the Lead Service Vocalist. It was during this transformation that he came to terms with his homosexuality and decided to leave not only the church but also Christianity behind. Though you won't find religious themes in his music these days, the influence is still quite evident. Two more albums developed over the next year during Jeremiah Clark's last days in Memphis. Both Underneath and Regrets of Yesterday showcase a more abstract style of writing similar to Duncan Sheik and Rufus Wainwright, but his voice continued to grow into that of a powerfully-wounded soul. In the next several years to follow, Clark found himself in Atlanta, Nashville and surrounding areas working toward a degree in classical, vocal performance which he abandoned for advancements in the workforce. In 2005, the up-and-coming artist found the absence of music in his life less than satisfying and relocated to Pittsburgh with strong support from friends and family to pursue music on his own terms. Since his time here, Jeremiah Clark has made quite a name for himself. Writing and recording new material after long workdays, Clark's highly-anticipated Leaving a Broken Heart EP was born in late 2008. Six years in the making, the newest album reveals a more mature perspective of acceptance, growth and understanding. Shortly after the release, mentor and friend, Tom Goss, a singer-songwriter based out of D.C., asked Jeremiah to join him on his release Back to Love to record harmony vocals. A year later, Jeremiah Clark left his daytime job to join Goss on a national tour. The Big Spring Tour 2010, a career success and quite a feat of car travel, took the two musicians to over forty cities in the U.S. in only two months. From Seattle to San Diego, Ft. Lauderdale to Portland, Maine, audiences embraced the new voice in their ears. "Practicing Lines" is the first single from Clark's newest album "Just Another Sad Song" and will soon be making a splash on the airwaves as will the music video currently in the planning stages; a Fall Tour followed the release in October 2010, including several special guests, and radio appearances, all coinciding with the album launch. A 50 City National House Concert Tour, dates of which will be announced in late February, will take Jeremiah back across the states to see old friends as well as new. "A Pittsburgh sensation," according to CUE Magazine, Jeremiah Clark is a name you will not soon forget. Bio

Described as “Amazing, Fantastic, Phenomenal!” by Feast of Fun blog gurus Marc and Fausto, Jeremiah Clark’s passion for music started at a very young age. This self-taught pianist and guitarist released his first album at the age of only sixteen and has since spent years crafting a unique sound that blends his soulful voice and acoustic instrumentation with a deeply-rooted southern heritage. His latest release, an acoustic effort entitled Born & Raised, has been wholeheartedly embraced by fans all over the country and, according to CUE Magazine, he's “A Pittsburgh sensation” right here in town.

With lyrics often referred to as “deeply poignant,” Jeremiah Clark masterfully balances poetry with practicality and has been likened to prodigies like Rufus Wainwright and Tracy Chapman. While his songs usually take on a more serious tone, his performances are refreshingly lighthearted. He enjoys telling comedic stories about family, friends and traveling between tunes joking that, “If you don‘t laugh AND cry at some point during the show, I simply have not done my job.” Touring over the past two years has taken him to 60+ U.S. cities playing for countless, eager fans at over 200 shows.
