   Indie Music Night's Blurbs
About me:

Indie Music Night is monthly evening (a Saturday 7pm-9pm) of PREMIUM quality singer/songwriters and bands which will take place at the Arts Council of Princeton from Nov 2009-March 2010. Admission is a $5 donation, and tasty home baked treats and coffee are $1. The evening leans towards and eclectic array of singer/songwriters and bands. We tend to get an attentive, well behaved, clean, and "freakishly attentive" audience of 50 or more. They like walks on the beach and red wine. The show is hosted by singer/songwriter Sarah Donner with her sidekick sound man Handsome Joseph McLean. Very casual, rustic, cozy, and Norwegian.

Normally our shows are at the Griggstown Pavilion, but starting from Nov 2009 to Mar 2010 we will be at the Arts Council of Princeton, 104 Witherspoon St. Princeton, NJ. A recording of artists is available for $25. Admission is a $5 suggested donation...

INTERESTED IN PLAYING? Send a message to sarah@sarahdonner.com. Myspace messages get lost in the mix so please just send an email. The demand to play is high, so please be patient. Because of the intimate space and residential neighborhood, drum kits are not allowed unless brushes are used. Sets are 30 minutes long. Sound check is required for acts with more than one artist/instrument.

Dear Constituent:

Please be informed that G. Wood/Undercover Bonobos have posted a new song entitled "Seeds" on their Myspace music player. We strongly advise that you review this material carefully. Your commentary is welcomed.

Analysis: We have been informed that this song sounds like a Communist Collective work song. We are further advised that it may be misconstrued as a treatise on the cultivation of illegal herbage. We are cautioned that some listeners may experience a shift in psychological set and setting during the "psychedelic" interlude. Please report any activity of this nature forthwith.

This song may be intended and interpreted as a tribute to the late, great, Sky Saxon.

We gratefully anticipate your thoughts on this matter.

Thanks a lot for the add! EletriKa sounds completely different from any Metal band you have ever heard. The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check EletriKa out!

Hugs from Brazil,
Claudio David

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

Promotional Video(My Girl From The South Sea Isles)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

RALLY AGAINST GREED: "Balance The Bucks" Concert in D.C.
Photobucket
“Balance The Bucks,” a free concert program to be presented on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is slated for 2 pm Sunday, September 6. The unprecedented musical performance will feature artists from across the country on stage at the Sylvan Amphitheater adjacent to the Washington Monument.
The concert will feature a line-up of original tunes focusing on issues such as economic justice, redistribution of wealth, salary disparity, bailouts, foreclosures and the general impact of rampant greed.
Event organizer and host Delmark Goldfarb hopes to “try to punch a hole in the cloud of money influence which soothes and smothers the Capitol.”
For further details and/or to be a part of the sing-out, contact 503 708 7306; Del.Goldfarb@hotmail.com.
