Indiepop, indie rock, punk, post punk, electro, electronica, synthpop, rap, antifolk, post rock, good music in general. Not particularly interested in lad rock/dad rock/git rock (Kasabian) or any general brit pop revivalism.
Music
Has got too many notes.
Movies
I'm sure the indie soc has what could be termed an eclectic taste in film. Some of our members are film students - just don't do what I did and bang on about the brilliance of the guy who directed Ace Ventura. Ace Ventura 1, that is.. not the stupid sell-out sequel where he squeezes out the back of the animatronic rhino..
Television
This is a redundant form, really.. I prefer asking people "what did you see on the laptop last night?", although their answers are sometimes a bit too confessional for my liking..
Books
Books ain't dead, man!!
Heroes
Tom Weir &
John Peel &
Stephen Malkmus &
Robert Pollard
About me: We are a collective of people - mainly from Edinburgh University and ECA - putting on indie gigs and clubnights in the fair city of Edinburgh (a.k.a the "Gotham of the North"..). In the past we've put on gigs by the likes of Jeffrey Lewis, Bearsuit, Frightened Rabbit, Sky Larkin, Zoey Van Goey, Diva Abrasiva, So Cow, The School Of Language, Meursault, Come On Gang! and many others..
Lately, we've mainly just been putting on our indie disco Hark! every 2 or 3 weeks at the Wee Red Bar in Lauriston Place. We also arrange mix cd swaps (they don't have to be themed or owt) and go for pints or other beverages, not to mention sending out group emails to see if anyone's up for gigging it either here or in Glasgow, as well as just general info. To get on this, just email indiesoc.ed@googlemail.com.
If you want to get involved with what we do or just to be kept updated with the stuff we organise, then please add us here or on facebook..
Peace out!

CONFUSION IS SEX
Where fantasy becomes reality, Confusion Is Sex invites freaks, weirdos, princesses, kings, slaves... CiS is an environment rather than just a music night. It's like walking into a David Lynch set where the weird is normal, giving people the chance to be something they're not.
