    IndieWriter.net's Interests
GeneralReviving the written word. Independent publishing used to be the primary medium for the exchange of new and revolutionary ideas but it has suffered as interest in the printed word has declined. We feel that this decline has in turn often caused a decline in the quality of ideas exchanged and are making our best attempt at reviving this careful and bountiful medium. Read! Read your favoite indie writers like you listen to your favorite indie bands. Don't let great ideas be smothered by apathy, materialism, and marketing.

   IndieWriter.net's Blurbs
About me:
IndieWriter.net is a website dedicated to supporting independent authors and their publication. We are interested in all types of writing and are dedicated to helping authors establish themselves. Our goal is connection and communication. All writers have something to say but typically only a very small audience if any. IndieWriter.net is aimed at gaining an audience for independent writers, connecting these writers with publishers, and reestablishing independent writing as a common medium of ideas. Independent music and art receive a great deal of press and popularity, especially amongst younger people, and we feel that it is a tragedy the pen, or keyboard, has lost so much appeal and momentum. IndieWriter.net is an attempt at establishing independent writing on the same plane as art and music. The written word holds the power of time and it is high time for a change.

Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone interested in the independent press. We are always looking for new contributors for IndieWriter.net and new connections with independent publishers. If you publish an independent magazine, webzine, books, newpaper, etc, please contact us. Our goal is to connect publishers and authors around the nation.

Sorry guys, shameless plug:

I put out some more songs, available on iTunes and almost anywhere you can get MP3 downloads. Here's the iTunes link:
Delphi - Shadowsongs (Extended Edition 2008)

P.S.

As always, if you can't afford any music, and you want to have some, shoot me an email through Myspace and I'll get your email and send you MP3s. I'm all about the free music, free love, free Revolution of mind, body, and soul. Money is an existential conundrum that doesn't actually express any value in and of itself; it's just nice for things. Like, you know, food. And making more albums.

Indiana Author Named As Finalist For National Indie Excellence 2007 Book Awards

Debra A. Kemp was named a finalist for the National Indie Excellence 2007 Book Awards for her novel The House of Pendragon II: The Recruit as best E-book/fiction.

Kemp's book, the second in a series based on the legendary stories of King Arthur, has been garnering a lot of attention lately. It was selected by Renditions of Camelot as book of the month in April 2007, and has received several stellar book reviews including a recommendation for a “Book Sense Recommended Read” by Heartland Reviews since its publication January 2007.

Debra Kemp is pleased her book has placed as a finalist for a National Book Award. "It's a validation for all the research and dedication that has gone into my House of Pendragon series so far. When I first became interested in the King Arthur legends, I read every book about him in the high school’s library, and then the ones in the public library. And over the years, the story and my character wouldn't let me go. It’s really a labor of love for me. The nation’s best independent books compete for these awards. I’m honored to be a finalist."

The House of Pendragon II: The Recruit, as well as Kemp's award-winning first book in the series, The House of Pendragon I: The Firebrand are available direct from Amber Quill Press or on-line e-book sites including Fictionwise.

Debra Kemp currently lives in Carmel, IN.

A complete list of the winners and finalists of the National Indie Excellence 2007 Book Awards are available online at http://www.IndieExcellence.com.
