Indigo Brown. Hailed by some as the future of UK soul music. 'Nah, that's too much pressure!' hollers Soul, one half of the colourful duo, combing out an afro that would make Minnie Riperton blush. 'We're just us. We enjoy what we do and we try to do it well and are always humbled by the response we get.'
And what a response. In a few short years, Indigo Brown have managed to carve themselves out a solid place in the independant music scence. Their live shows can be found packed with smiling fans and music lovers alike, all eager to experience the next step in the Indigo Brown journey. Stops on that journey have included shows in London, New York, Philadelphia and Atlanta, a nod from the BBC for 'New Songwriters of the Year 2008', touring with comedienne Gina Yashere and most recently penning a song for RnB queen Mary J Blige.
Meeting in 2005, it was originally their love of songwriting that brought the two together. Indigo Brown was in fact born on a run down pavement in Queens, NY. A chance meeting with a guy clutching a guitar lead to the duo to writing their signature tune 'Hey Lover' then and there while the world bustled by.
On returning to London, their potential was immediately recognised by EMI songwriter Michelle Escoffery, who invited them to perform at her renound 'Kindred Spirit' soul music showcase. It was Michelle who eventually made the introduction between Indigo Brown and their now producer, Grammy Award winning Ronald 'Pnut' Frost.
These sassy ladies have just returned from the US where they have been recording their much awaited debut album. They remain playfully tight lipped about the release of the album. 'We are putting some finishing touches to the project with a producer here in the UK but we're excited, so just keep your ears tuned.'
'What you girls are doing is amazing and I want you know I'm 100% behind you.'

'Their harmonies are angelic. As performers and songwriters they achieve a special ethereal quality that is an integral part of their individual soulful sound.'
- Angela Wallis, (ex) Executice Prouder, BBC New Talent
'Your music is special and you are a new wave of great talent that will bring a change to the love of music.'
- Adam 'RC Ledgister, Keith Sweat MD
‘I’m loving their soul and loving their sound- these ladies are definitely at the forefront in London’s soul revolution and ones to watch out for, if you get an opportunity to go and see them live, take it, take it, take it!’
