Manchester born songstress, Sonia Clarke aka INDIGO is a talented and versatile performer and a vocal force to be reckoned with. Her artistic career started around the age of 7 when she began instruction in classical piano and began writing songs and performing in church, school and at The Oldham Lyceum.
Her performances are characterised by a passion and vocal range that seduces her audience. She is as at home with jazz, as soul, reggae, pop or any other genre you care to throw her way. Her authentic style is born out of her profound and longstanding love of music.
Indigo’s first real introduction to singing was at church, where she helped establish an acapella group singing gospel music, and performed at various churches, venues and events. She also took up the role of choir director and keyboardist during her mid teens.
Indigo has spent the last few years making waves in the Birmingham Music scene, performing with the City’s top bands including Gabbidon (Glastonbury, The Jam House); Bassing Music (Symphony Hall, The Drum) and Alvin Davis (Professional Footballers’ Awards). Now concentrating on her career as an independent artist and writer collaborating with some of the City’s finest musicians to complete her debut album ‘Full Circle’ a fusion of jazz, neo-soul and broken beat.
'My Influences are many and varied and I hope my music pays tribute to some of the many talents who have moved me in some way over the years.'
