INDI KAUR is a vocalist,songwriter and composer. Her attachment to voice and melody is reflected in her pursuit for traditional as well as experimental approaches to sonic art forms which are reflected in her projects.
ALBUMS/EPS RELEASES:Indi Kaur has had two albums released in the U.K and Maylasia:Keep on Walking , the first , was released in 2005. Her second album , Imajind was released in 2006."GUILTY PLEASURES", produced by ATKI2 was released on the Werc Disc label. Indi Kaur has had a track called "ANGELS IN THE RAIN", featured in the album UNDERWATER DANCEHALL by DJ PINCH on the TECTONIC LABEL.Most recently she has had a track called "EXILE", produced by 'FORENSICS', played on Radio 1.
PERFORMANCE VENTURES:Indi Kaur has shared the stage with French singer CAMILLE,JULIA SARR and SEB MARTEL with whom she performed a unique arrangement of BENJAMIN BRITTEN'S "A CEREMONY OF CAROLS" .She has performed at the Royal Festival and Royal Elizabeth Hall and was invited to sung her songs at the opening ceremony of the BBC PROMS 2006 in Trafalgar Square, London. Indi has also had the honour of performing at the CAMBRIDGE FOLK FESTIVAL as the winner of the New Roots Competition. She has supported award winning band FLOOK.RECORDING VENTURES: She has co-written and sung a track for an interesting, conceptual pop album called BODY,PIANO,MACHINE by MAJIKER.This is being released on a london based record label called "GAY MONKEY". Indi Kaur is currently writing and recording with TALViN SINGH, PHAELEH,and PAUL KWITEK,MUSIC EDUCATION:Indi's musical journey began when her parents bought her a green harmonium. It was with the harmonium she began to take vocal lessons,simultaneously reinterpreting her understanding of the sound world around her ,especially the world of Indian classical music where she later started learning the Santoor (Hammer Dulcimer). Later,Indi began to explore other types of Hammer Dulcimers, especially the one commonly used in Folk music of the British Isles. This has become her specialised instrument with which she sometimes performs with. QUALIFICATIONS:Indi Kaur gratuated with BA Honours in Music from Dartington College of Arts and gained an MA in Ethnomusicology from SOAS ,University of London where she also experienced Persian singing. She is also a qualified Teacher of Music and committed to inspiring young people through creativity.
