I, for many years, have been involved with musical production and many have been the subjects, since plain ear training coaching till orchestral composition. However, what moves me the most in regard my professional activity as musician is composing songs. Maybe because it seems to me a straight route to that musical craftsmanship from which could one to produce simple kinds of enchantments. Maybe because I ever need the company of words. Including my instrumental work is plenty of secret words. But, definitely, I guess the reason is my passion for human voice sonority, and all those fresh and unexpected tales that come from any single word when it is sung.
I am from Brazil. There, I had some grateful experiences teaching music in some universities and leading some groups of pop music, the opportunity of getting some songs recorded in an independent production, also no many but very especial concert nights which brought me up during my musical journey.
My general style is ambiguous. Actually I cannot define it and I do prefer, when asked, saying that my music is somewhere in between Amazon River and Messiaen's birds. But I can suppose something more about it. I love some colors, purple and light green dissonances, also tonal music but not the logical one. Neither Apollo nor Dionysius. Something to say about time and deliberately break the musical clock, get out of patterns to live the musical transitoriness.
I had some teachers, important ones, but nowadays my actual teachers come from the past. They are Stravinsky and Webern, Gesualdo, Berio and all Brazilian folk music. Currently I am researching compositional techniques, writing vocal music, some cantigas d'amigo, working on my PhD project in music at London University, and looking for newest musical experiences.
