Alot of you may know that I listen to Accuradio, which is a free online streaming radio forum with multitudes of different channels and subchannels. Unfortunately, the Copyright Board's ruling regarding net radio approximately triples royalties paid to record labels via SoundExchange for streaming Internet radio over the next three years, and extends the new rates back to the beginning of 2006. Basically, this means none of these sites will be able to afford to stay in business because of the outrageous amount they will have to pay records labels (like they don't make enough money as it is.)
I personally believe that these stations do the complete OPPOSITE of cheat musicians (or their labels more specifically) out of money. They act as free advertising and promotion and, in turn, end up drawing more attention and business to the artists.
