It's pretty difficult to really list all that have been an influence over the years but for sure Green Velvet, Relief records, many old skool Chicago jack & booty house artist's who forever effected me with their beats, rhythms and genius sampling, Subhead, NTW23 live sets, Les Boucles Etranges, Audio Illusion, Dexorcist, Jeff DJTal NTW23 the ultimate raver, Bass Junkie, Radioactive man live sets, Esoteric, Si Begg, The Prodigy, The Sex Pistols, Funkadelic, Signal Electrique, Mad Professor. The Beastie Boys, UR and probably subliminally a shit load of stuff from the power house Detroit. Electro funk, Electro bass, Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Hip House. Too many Drum and bass artist's from over the years to think of. London breaks in general in all their many shapes and forms. Also Loads of funkin' pumping house music. Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and Kraftwerk, better mention them as for sure in one way or another they have influenced us all. Basically been influenced by a shit load of stuff, none more so than by my friends who always were and always will be the biggest influence and source of inspiration.
This should be finished sometime in the next 500 years.

THE ORIGINAL CRIMINAL
Subliminal Criminal comes from the dancefloors of the London underground but at the end of the nineties a move was made to the Netherlands, but now after many years away he has now made the move back to the UK. Producing music since the mid nineties he has released on various record labels and his musical development has gone from underground techno to a music which he describes as... industrial funk!
"it's a fusion of styles that can vary considerably but always with one eye on the dance floor and with a definite twist of psychedelic weirdness in there somewhere"
"I spent quite allot of time around the turntables playing all sorts of places, I was not like some big name Dj but just a geezer who was never more happy than to be spinning the tunes in the chaos of the underground. I loved it. I've played many styles as long as they had a twist and no cheese. As time went on I got more interested and involved with playing live sets and stopped playing out on the decks. I had Dj's around me all the time, we were distributing records on and off over the years and I was involved with various underground labels so there was always a shit load of records around so I was never lost for inspiration "
"I learnt my craft from years of being around the Jedi Knights of live set in the European underground. There we had the freedom to test what we did on multitudes of soundsytems and were able to play for hour upon hour in the freedom that we had created.
WE ARE INDUSTRIAL FUNK
Subliminal Criminal was one of the founding members of Nocturnal State and was one of the main driving forces behind the Industrial Funk parties.
The I-Funk name came about because of the places we found ourselves partying in over the years, like old warehouses, old factories, ship yards etc.. basically many industrial places with a lot of funky vibes going down.
"At the time it was not our main intention to do it better than what was already there, we were just music junkies and what better way is there to satisfy your addiction than to ask those artists that you are into to come and play at your parties"
"For me there was and always will be a massive difference between talking about it and doing it, and if you can't find satisfaction in what is around you, you must get off your arse and Do It Yourself"
DON'T BE AN ARCHITECT BE AN ARTIST, TOCH ?
As for the process of music creation, music is an art form, you can't force art but you can get better in what you create. It's a feeling, maybe it's kind of like expressing what your soul looks or sounds like, who knows, I don't delve that deeply into the meaning of art for fear of going up my own arse and there's enough of those people out there all ready. I think music and art in general should not be made in any other style than your own, when you make music it should be an open canvas with no pre-conditions.
THE ANSWERS NOT INSIDE ANY MACHINE IT'S INSIDE YOURSELF ! ! !
It's not what you use to make the music with that is relevant, it is only the end result that is important. Hardware or software it does not matter to me, embrace technology and learn from the past. Your ears are the most important piece of equipment you have and your mind is what makes your music unique.
BACK WITH THE CREW
Now back with the London crew the mission is to put the many years of underground audio vibes and bring it to those who may well have not seen or heard it done that way. We are those that have never pretended, we never hid behind nothing, we are who we are and that is true to our selves and what we believe in.
Good to see you too mate. I'm starting to wounder if all those ladies are real, and if they really want to talk to me! Was a proper rave last week haven't had a night like that in a long time, looking forwards to getting out the new live set once it's finished. You got any gig's in the pipe line?
