For some reason, MySpace hasn't been sending the event invitations for Mayor Ballard's appearance at Broad Ripple High School Thursday night! We need a HUGE crowd to pack the school's auditorium in support of keeping Fire Station 32 AS A FIRE STATION! Most recently, the Mayor's office has said that the station will remain within the Public Safety division, but that could include Weights & Measures or Animal Control!

IMPORTANT! MAYOR BALLARD COMES TO BROAD RIPPLE
    When: Thursday, Mar 19, 2009 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Broad Ripple High School

Mayor Ballard and his staff, including public safety director Scott Newman, will be fielding questions and giving answers in this open forum.
THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE OUR COMMITMENT TO FIRE STATION 32 KNOWN!

We need EVERYONE to be present for this very important meeting! This is our chance to let Mayor Ballard and his entire staff know just how serious we are about maintaining Fire Station 32 AS A FIRE STATION.

PLEASE plan to attend this VERY important meeting and bring your friends with you!

TAKE FIVE TO READ on Monday, September 8th, 2008 to celebrate International Literacy Day!

International Literacy Day is recognized by the United Nations

    TAKE FIVE TO READ

    Noon on Monday, Sept.
    8th

Take Five To Read: wherever you are, whatever you are doing, stop and read a book (or a magazine, or a letter, or a work related report, or a newspaper . . .) for five minutes at NOON on Monday, September 8 th to celebrate “International Literacy Day.

    · Take Five To Read to a child.

    · Take Five To Read to yourself.

    · Take Five To Read to celebrate that you are NOT one of the “one in five adults in Indianapolis who can’t read.

    · And when people ask why you’re reading, tell them to go visit “100percentliterate. org” to help “Make Indianapolis 100% Literate!”

    · PLEASE SHARE THIS EMAIL WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!!! Help make Indianapolis 100% literate!

Literacy is a cause for celebration since there are now close to four billion literate people in the world. However, literacy for all – children, youth and adults - is still an unaccomplished goal and an ever moving target. A combination of ambitious goals, insufficient and parallel efforts, inadequate resources and strategies, and continued underestimation of the magnitude and complexity of the task accounts for this unmet goal. Lessons learnt over recent decades show that meeting the goal of universal literacy calls not only for more effective efforts but also for renewed political will and for doing things differently at all levels - locally, nationally and internationally.
