The Infamous Grouse are a long established Scottish Country Dance and Ceilidh band.
We have played at hundreds of weddings, balls and charity events in Scotland, England, Wales and abroad.
We are based in London, but have members based all over the UK so can field a team of players anywhere in the country. We play traditional Scottish Country Dances. We also play ceilidhs. Our caller will expertly guide you through the dances if needed, so prior knowledge of the dances is not essential.
We also have a wide range of interval music from jazz to modern classic pop tunes.
The band is a fiddle based band. We play traditional fiddle tunes as well as tunes of our own. We play with 4-7 people depending on the type of event. We will make sure the music reflects the kind of event you want.
The band plays with huge energy and commitment. There won't be a single person who isn't tempted onto the dance floor when the grouse plays!
One of our fiddle players is also an expert bagpiper (Scots Guards Pipe Band) and can be called upon to pipe in the bride, the guests or even the haggis to give the event that added sense of occasion. Saving the need to book a piper separately.
We play the traditional Scottish Country Dances Dashing White Sergeant
Eightsome reel,
Foursome Reel, (piped or full band version)
Hamilton House,
Duke of Perth,
Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh,
Reel of the 51st Division,
Mairi's Wedding and
Inverness Country Dance (Speed the plough)
Others can be performed if requested as long as we know the time signature and duration of the sets.
Also we are happy to play ceilidh tunes including;
Canadian Barn Dance,
Gay Gordons,
Military Two Step,
St Bernard's Waltz,
Strip the Willow,
Virginia Waltz and
Gaelic Waltz.
In addition to this we have a large number of alternative Jazz, jive and classic pop songs. Indeed we can be hired as a covers band, or if you wish, half ceilidh, and later get a pop covers band so everyone's tastes are catered for....................................
