Biography
InFlightMovie came together in the summer of 2005 in Leeds, UK- where all members are currently studying music production. After a failed attempt at creating a band combining electronica and live instruments, a rethink in sound and a reshuffle in members formed InFlightMovie. After the first few writing sessions, IFM got into the studio to lay down 'Cassbah' and 'Beach Wreckage', before buying a van and starting to play their songs live.
They immediately got stuck in by slowly building a national fanbase from shows all over the country. All shows got the same positive responses, selling out of cds and badges at every gig, from Exeter (where there was a fight over the last CD halfway through the bands set), to Nottingham and Preston (where the band were living it up signing autographs, set lists and cds- a weird experience!).
The big break-through came about in early 2006 when the band were picked from 90 applicants for the Leeds Bright Young Things Project. As part of this the band got a professional photo shoot, showcase gig (at the HiFi Club Leeds) and recording session with top producer Bruce Wood (The Clash, Nightmares On Wax, The Cribs).
In this same month the band were informed they had also been picked from near 1000 applicants nation-wide for the 3 Student Music Awards. They were taken down to London to film a promotional video for the song Fracture, which is now enjoying heavy rotation on the University union station, Sub Tv to an average monthly audience of 2.5 millions people. They also got a slot on the Student Music Awards tour, supporting 'Dogs' at Preston University, to 400 people.
The next move for the band is to play as much as possible, continue to build up the growing national fanbase and get as many people to hear their music as possible.
