"Just an update as my film "SHORT DAY" (from the DVD Trilogy "SCENES OF IDOLATRY AND RESENTMENT") is about to become available on IndieFlix"
Production Notes:
In '92 I loved film, but long, uninterrupted scenes, containing in their own duration the whole story's essence, like the interrogation scenes in "Judgement in Nuremberg"; and literature, in the self-reflection stream of consciousness, Kerouac sweating on his writing binges, noble ideas dropped for life's circumstances instead.
In '97 the premise started shaping around envy, between artistic ability to create but not fully live, and to live, express, and avenge, emptying oneself before finding inspiration.
In '01 I got the script, people, DV camera, and alcohol; but the story hit too close to home. Out of my frustration I ended up producing a John Cassavetes retrospective. I lost apartment, camera and job, and bought a van to live in and to finally really write, motivated by producer Fred Caruso (of "Midnight Cowboy", "Network", "Husbands", etc) telling me "I read, with great pleasure, the treatment and long version of "SCENES". Your characters and story line are deep and engaging."
"SHORT DAY" is a one-character interior monologue "performed" in singular setting, unedited, part of a trilogy "SCENES OF IDOLATRY AND RESENTMENT", like Dostoevski's "NOTES", according to the non-linear time development of the mind, and as honestly as possible.
