ING-J (born. oct 18, 1981, Bodø, Norway) is a confessional alternative singer and songwriter, inspired by music. ING-J was raised on a sheep farm in the north of Norway, on the remote island of Gjerøy. Her first 4 years were spent there before her family decided to move south, to Hamar, Norway. She began playing guitar and writing songs from an early age. As a 15-year-old, her first band Eruptiva was founded. The band was a local success and was awarded several prizes for outstanding performances. Craving further exploration with her vocal expression she and some friends started Coax, an alternative and theatrical band looking for musical identity. The band mixed and transformed different styles such as circus, rock, grunge and indie music and dazzled their audiences with theatrical stage performances. Here she found ways of interpreting dramatic and playful vocals. She left the band in 2004.
ING-J has previously worked with several producers, amongst others, Dozzy Njava over a period of time, developing her sound. She has recently completed a recording session with producer Rocco Guarino in L.A.
Guarino is a multitalented producer/director/photographer and has worked with the likes of Velvet Revolver, Brendan O’Brien and Bob Ezrin.
The recordings are completed and are being sent around to potential collaborators in order to procure a recording contract.
