Ingo Bethke is a newly formed jazz sextet based out of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The group’s unique front-line of trumpet, sax and tuba has garnered positive approval from audiences in Minnesota. The Dakota Jazz Club states that Ingo Bethke, “…offers exciting and imaginative original music.” Their highly crafted sound ranges in style from straight-ahead swing, to carefully arranged big-band-like tunes, to explosive avant-garde jazz. May 2009 marked the release of Ingo Bethke’s debut self-titled album. The CD features eight songs ranging from zany circus-like improvisations to an earnest reinterpretation of a Jewish hymn. During its relatively short existence, the group has frequented some of Minnesota’s top jazz clubs including The Dakota and The Clown Lounge. Ingo Bethke features Shilad Sen (saxophone), Geoff Senn, (trumpet), Stefan Kac (tuba), Steve Gilbertson (piano), Matt Peterson (bass) and Nick Zielinski (drums).
