To achieve something like this recorded is one thing, but to see Theo perform live is quite another as each song blurs into the next and the dazzling guitar and drum acrobatics leave jaws sagging on the faces of all who bear witness to the talent on offer.
God is in the tv on Theo
I love it when things like this just turn up in the post with no warning, there it was patiently waiting for our attention in the pile with Kaiser-Fi wannabes and bad metal clichés.
Organ on The Jelas
Heavy on doomy basslines and glittering off tune guitars bIRdbATh play to challenge.
Fuse on bIRdbATh
Cowman adds plenty of distorted guitar and screechy effects to perfect his industrial sound. It's hard to expect much from title's like '(It's so fun) Kiddie Rape', but they could definitely pass as a soundtrack to a gritty, yet poor horror movie. No matter how well he uses the technology it's no substitute for real instruments, and, unfortunately, it can get painfully monotonous.
The Mag on Cowman
At once laden with emotion yet as cold and sparse as Arctic tundra. Spiky but strangely comforting, like being attacked by a duvet. It’s a hazy, smoky, stoned mash of everything from Mogwai and Shellac to Sonic Youth but rarely anything but itself.
New-noise on bIRdbATh
And it’s great. With all the fun, warmth and timeless style of a Dennis the Menace jumper, there’s plenty to enjoy. In contrast to the deluge of sharp New Wave art rockers, punky rip-offs and vertically-challenged singer/songwriters, there’s not too much stuff like this out there right now, so it’s great to hear a band doing it so well. Intelligent, exciting and infectious, Delbert Grady don’t miss a trick. Get ready for the happy attack.
Overplay on Delbert Grady
Riffs that may have otherwise blown my socks off, feel like they’ve first been strained through a thick, opaque pair of old lady’s tights before limply flopping out of my woofers and splatting on the carpet beneath.
Subba-cultcha on bIRdbATh
Challenging, thought-provoking and more than little bit off the radar.
BBC Bristol Uncovered on The Jelas
Birdbath have a little edge of their own and just when you think you have them worked out, they go and throw in a nice little alternative rewarding curveball or two – well worth your time.
Organ on bIRdbATh
No matter how deformed you are there is no excuse for music that sounds as appealing as an orange pair of trousers.
