In the last decade there have been very few Metal acts in Britain, that have been able to make it to a lasting memorable success. Let alone a globe trotting success. A lot of bands seem to follow the same trend of music in Britain, and originality in music is very hard to come by. A lot of bands lose there identity with these trends, and end up selling them selfs out just to get a record contract. And because of these trends a lot of genres in music are pushed out, and in some cases forgotten.
Inhale are something different, and is made up of Kai (lead guitarist), Stef (vocalist, guitarist) and Jay (bass). These guys like to push the boundaries, and their music goes by three words LOUD, HARD and HEAVY. And have a mixed influence in many genres of music. That goes from thrash, Metal, Blues, Country, Rock, Grunge, Punk to even Symphony. And are always trying new things, to push there music more.
Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist stef, came from a working class background. And grew up listening to bands like Nirvana, Iron maiden, Megadeth, Faith no more, Pantera and rage against the machines. Although he had his heart set on managing bands and organising events. After seeing the bands he was managing play live, he decided he rather be in a band and play live then business, and eagerly picked up the guitar. "When I met stef he had alot of character, and still does. But when we were drunk and jamming, that was when we really connected. And after the good crate, or so it was like dude i love you so much"(laughs) - Kai. Influenced by bands like Iron maiden, Nirvana, Thin Lizzy, Megadeth. He began practising day after day. And Although experiencing a rough childhood, Stef also persued a heavy interest in art, and also designs a lot of artwork for the band.
Lead guitarist Kai also grew up in Holborn London, and came from a working class background. And began listening to music at an early age of 10. "I grew up on a lot of stuff, from thrash metal, rock, hip hop, rnb to symphony. But I never looked at music and seperated it into genres. Like i wouldnt just listen to metal and thats, it i listen to everything. I had no boundaries, and went anywhere with it". Picking up the guitar at 13, he began practising day and night, And was influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Korn, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple. "Jimi was my Idol, i idolized him like mad and most of my playing style is based on him, But i also idolized Kirk Hammet and Dimebag. Most men in my family play guitar, grand parents uncles my dad cousins. So it was only natural, that I would eventually pick it up as well".
Bassist Jay came from a middle class background, and spent half of his childhood in Texas before moving to England. Jay is the darkest one of the band, and is influenced by bands like messuggah, Zyklon, emperor and vader. He also is heavily interested in art and animation, and while going to college to study he met Kai and joined inhale. "It was one of those funny situations, because I had spent all day in denmark st looking for people to join my band. And i was so fed up, that i saw jay walked up to him and said dude join my band. I didnt even ask if he could play anything, thats how frustrated I was. And weirded out by that, he just said ok"(laughs) - kai.
But jays playing became way better by day, and is the man thats keeps this band heavy all the time.
The way inhale have always produced tracks, was always round off by certain skills. "Stef was the guy that always pulled off a really good riff, but sometimes he never even noticed it. I was the guy that kind of brought it out of him. I was more of the guy that new what kind of song it was gonna be before it started. And jay was the the one that new when something was going to far, he was the song structure. once someone makes a song, it becomes everyones song, and everyone is involved " - kai.
To concluded this review, Inhale are a young band looking to cause some damage on the music industry. With their hunger and eagerness, there main big goals are to connect with people and to be as big as possible. There music will always be Loud, Hard and Heavy. And as music grows, so will theirs. So to the metal and music industry, watch out for this powerful young band. "Because Judgement will be due"
