WHAT THE MEDIA HAS TO SAY
Its truly an event when a band disregards convention and simply produces raw honest music...prepare for that beautiful moment when a well kept secret starts to bloom - Siobhán Long, Hot Press.
Damn good - Dave Fanning, 2FM.
Never overshadowed by their influences, they are forging out a distinctive pathvery promising - Ken Fallon, B Scene.
WHAT THE DICTIONARY HAS TO SAY
Innate - adj. Natural, inherent as innate ideas, that is to say, ideas that we are born with, having them previously imparted to us The Devils Dictionary, Ambrose Bierce, 1911.
WHAT THE NEIGHBOURS HAVE TO SAY
Could ye keep it down please? My daughters trying to study for the leaving cert. - Mr. B up the road
I think that metals a bit too heavy lads! - the Garda Síochána.
Innate emerged from Mullingar in 1999 and since then they have proved as impossible to pin down as mercury. Innate are centred around 4 members: FRANK BYRNE on vocals and guitar, ROSS KENNEDY on drums, NIALL MASTERSON on bass and JOHNNY OWENS on guitar, vocals and occasionally, violin.
Innate sound exactly like a band should, with guitar sounds that slip between the maudlin and fury, a fluid and sublime rhythm section and vocals to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Many have tried to pigeonhole Innate onto a previously heard template, but the reality is Innate are in a league of their own, one where comparisons count for nothing and the music counts for everything. People like to stick labels on things, so let them.
Innate have ventured around the rich Irish musical landscape. They quickly became regulars on the Dublin live circuit, with shows under their belts in all the right venues (TBMC, WHELANS, EAMON DORAN, CRAWDADDY and various others) and forays across the country helped the band build up many admirers. A random glance at some of the nationwide supports the band have done will give some indication to the verve and swagger of Innate: acts as diverse as KILA, BELL X1, MUNDY, TURN, ASLAN, THE WALLS, PADDY CASEY, THE FRAMES and more, have all benefited from the refreshing presence of Innate.
Their long awaited debut album SWEET MESS was released locally in April of 2006. The tracks PLAY and SOLITUDE have already been receiving positive airplay on 2FM with DAVE FANNING and on other radio stations. The band are already demo-ing new material which they will be airing on several dates around the country to promote the album.
Innate bring a refreshing and dangerously entertaining twist on life, love and the cosmos. Check them out soon because this time next year youll be hard-pressed not to succumb to what is natural, inherent and above all, damn good.

"Charlie Parr is one of the greatest musicians and human beings I know. So many country-blues artists are crippled with retroism and purism, but he has brought wonder and excitement to this music.
