In October of 2005, God used a revival service at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to bring together two couples into one ministry. At that time, Scotty and Johnna Carroll were serving Pleasant Ridge Baptist as their Music Ministry Team and Bernie and Faith Joyner were asked to join them to provide music for the revival. From the very beginning, both couples felt that God had joined them together for a greater purpose. Thus, the group InnerFire was born. Since then, God has begun to open doors for this team to sing and minister in locations as far as Houston, Texas and Coral Springs, Florida.
Scotty and Johnna began singing together while they were still dating and after 15 years of marriage, are still going strong. Johnna began singing when she was six years old and is passionate about gospel music. She attended Chipola Junior College on a music scholarship and then continued her music study at Florida State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education. She currently is a stay-at-home mom where she homeschools her three children and is furthering her studies in music. Scotty is a professional engineer and works from his home in Murfreesboro, TN. His responsibilities on the road are speaking and running sound. Scotty and Johnna have three children who also participate in the ministry. They are Hannah (age 11), Jacob (age 10), and Andrew (age 8). The children sing together and solo and have found that young people can also be used of God to encourage His people.
The second part of InnerFire is Bernie and Faith Joyner. They met at Warner Southern College, located in Lake Wales, FL in November of 1998. They were married on March 10, 2000, and have two daughters: Anneliese, born in March of 2006 and Coralyn in November of 2007. Bernie and Faith have a broad musical background including serving as worship leaders in a part-time capacity. Currently, Bernie and Faith live in Murfreesboro, TN where Bernie works as a software consultant for HMIS, Inc and Faith stays home with the girls.
As a group, these couples are passionate about using the talents God has given them to lift up Christ and to encourage His people. They are praying that God will use them for His purpose as He opens doors for them to sing and preach.
