Ford Canoe Challenge
Saturday, August 15, 2009
Over 90 canoe teams compete in the FORD Canoe Challenge…local celebrities, city officials, Corporate teams and Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts compete in timed heats. The race begins at the Chamber of Commerce, heads east through and around the Convention Center Lagoon, through the River Center Mall Lagoon and ending back at the Chamber of Commerce. (7am-11am) Presented by the Tower Life Building.

Ticket holders enjoy sampling culinary offerings from 20 participating River Walk establishments from 5:00pm until 8:30pm. Then, all party-goers are encouraged to go to the Post-Party @ (8:45pm-11pm) where drawings will be conducted throughout the evening for great prizes and live music will top off Pachanga del Rio, "The Taste of the River Walk”. Tickets available through the Paseo del Rio Association offices. Tickets will go on sale on June 15, 2009. Group rates available. Presented by Pepsi.

Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony The day after Thanksgiving, the switch is pulled to turn on over 122,000 lights that illuminate the River Walk until New Year's Day. Decorated floats wind through the river in one of the country's only nighttime river parades. Admission for all river-level access. (210) 227-4262

In addition to camp ground privileges for full-weekend participants, Apache Pass offers RV parking and on-site shower facilities for guests, as well as music performance areas, a cantilevered stage over the San Gabriel river, and tents for participating artists and attendees.
