INRI studio is the independent production house of founder/ cult director Tzang Merwyn Tong. Founded in 1999, the studio has since produced two trailblazing award-winning films. Their first film [e’TZAINTES] was the Opening Night Film of the Berlin Asia-Pacific Film Festival and is the winner of the Bronze Remi Award (for the Independent/Experimental category) at the 2003 WorldFest in the Houston, USA. We are proud to say that this is the same award won by George Lucas, David Lynch and Oliver Stone, when they were young unknown filmmakers.
2005 saw INRI studio’s second feature, A WICKED TALE making a world premiere to critical acclaim at the prestigious Rotterdam International Film Festival. The dark thriller based on Little Red Riding Hood fairytale continued to be a surprise hit in the international film festival circuits. It was selected to be the Closing Night Film of the notorious Montreal FanTasia Film Festival in 2005.
A WICKED TALE was released on DVD in 2006, made available for sale in Singapore, United States and Canada, with only word of mouth as publicity. All 1000 copies of its first limited release were sold out within months.
