Insanity Productions's Blurbs |
About me:
Insanity Productions is a tag-team trio of goons, uh I mean writers who met in high school. We write mostly fanfics but have some original stories. We are getting quite the "cult" following so we are widening our horizons in hopes you like what you read!
We go by Jared, John, & Andy ^_^
fanfics are stories based on japanese manga (comic books) and anime (cartoons)
Come check us out at www.geocities.com/rick_spiff
...And now it's time to meet some of the characters! First off is an original story Chronicles of War...
James Rahn
Role/Occupation: Former assassin. Former Durankov leader. Master of Nothing Rahn style. Mechanical Engineer. Protagonist.
Background: Once named the world's greatest assassin. Crazy parents led to a crazy childhood. As a side-project, he spent much of his time trying to figure out why people like his parents were so crazy, but operated from the assumption that the world was crazy. In studying the world, he uncovered evidence of a vast and powerful conspiracy bent on running the entire planet right into the ground. Shocked their ruthlessness, he hatched a plan to kill them all. Funny that this started when he was fourteen, and his plan had been solidified by 16. After graduating high school in 1990, James trained with some ex-SEALs, then founded Durankov, then got rid of Durankov, leaving him a rich man as of 1992. He promptly entered college, and promptly exited with a B.S. degree (doesn't that fit). He worked for a mining outfit in North Dakota for about a year, leaving during a layoff in 1996. James was seriously set on putting the final phase of his plan into action, stopping in Renton to deliver his current car to a buyer and coming to the Tri-Cities on Thanksgiving (of all days), intending to confront his parents and get the pile of parts that used to be his other car from them the next day.
Personality: Extremely intelligent, but secretively modest. James is obsessed with the plan, trying to make his every action part of it. After a decade of this, he has crafted a 'crazy' way of behaving used to distract people. He tries to hide from the real reason for his tactics, but knows deep down that he's just a killer, a soldier without a country to serve (in the spiritual sense). James makes a lot of effort to be entertaining, and because he's expecting squads of assassins to jump through the window at any given second, he leaves situations only when they are to his advantage... in case he has to come back. Respect and honesty is everything--that's a must, because he knows how to manipulate people, and knows that the logical arguement will rarely win them over. He needs an edge, and always gets it.
Description: Fair-skinned American white boy. Blue-grey eyes and dark
blonde hair. Hair is worn short but is a little messy. 5'10" tall,
180lbs. Gymnast's build. Moves like an expert martial artist. Frequently
wears a trench coat over very casual clothing. Jeans-and-shirt kind of
guy, he occasionally will wear a gangster-style pin-stripe suit, but no
other formal dress.
Ed Flemming
Role/Occupation: Massive-overkill-with-big-weapons guy. Skilled builder
of powerful weapons (chemistry, metalurgy, machining experience), and for now a lowly security guard (good medical plan).
Background: The youngest child, and a boy in a house with three older sisters, Ed was at odds with his father from day 1. Though his parents divorced when he was 17, his disgust with his father lingers to this day. Ed has more than passing experience with tabletop roleplaying games, and was very much a nerd in high school. Though introverted, he could handle authority quite well. After gliding through high school and remaining friends with the few smart people that would hang around him, Ed took up great interest in building things. Treating it as a secret skill, he moved into an rat-hole of an apartment, rented out a small shop, and began perfecting his craft while working at various menial jobs. Through means unknown to him, Ed was singled out by a group of local drug dealers looking to expand. They seemed to know he was making weapons in his spare time and started to demand hardware from him. He refused, they threatened, and he chose to fight back. After a few unlucky encounters in dark alleys, the drug cartel abruptly vanished, leaving to Ed wonder if the police did any good at all in this world.
Personality: Intelligent, introverted, and headstrong, Ed is a fan of things that have power. Big explosions, big engines, big planes, big tanks, etc. His obsession with weapons made him a marked man once, and Ed has since developed a healthy sense of paranoia. Exploring his full potential is something high on Ed's list of things to do, if for no other reason than to entertain himself. His job is what he consideres a way to make money, and detests working as a security guard. This obsession with skill extends to his evaluation of other people, and in a way, he's an elitist about personal skill. If you aren't good at something that interests him (and seems very difficult from his point of view), then you aren't worth his time.
Description: Ed looks like a six foot plus, combat-ready Arnold. Five years of intense manual labor on his secret obsession have his body into a biological machine of exceptional force and power. His black hair is cut Marine short, and sticks out from his scalp like a forest of black wires.
Dave Handleton
Role/Occupation: Mysterious guy who knows everything. Power behind the throne. Holder of James' leash.
Background: Other than his mother's side of the family being Italian Catholics, there's little tell about Dave's family. During or immediately after his final year of high school, they had a falling-out, leaving Dave to work full-time as a computer consultant and try to get through college. He didn't have long to suffer, however, as James pulled him into Durankov straight away. He didn't have anything better to do at that moment, but most importantly, he liked the philosophy of being able to change the world's fate James' way. After Durankov, Dave shifted his focus to earning a psychology degree. In the interviening years, he appears to have done nothing, but sits on a pile of cash and everyone on earth seems to owe him favors. Very mysterious.
Personality: If he weren't such a good actor, you could see the gears in Dave's head turning. In Dave's world, everything is driven by simple need. By breaking things down into needs, he can analyze situations and human behavior, then predict both with great accuracy. Dave is quiet, methodical, and doesn't speak his mind until it's made up. Dave plays the world (and the plot) like a master of video games. Despite this, he appears to have little or no ego, which makes him the ideal leader.
Description: Tall, well-built, with brown hair and brown eyes. Always clean and well-kept, Dave's appearace is an outward expression of his ordered method of dealing with messes. He wears glasses and either a piercing or indecipherable look, depending on the situation. Dave naturally appears to be the man in change, though he can look or act however is necessary.
Kate "Kat" Jones
Role/Occupation: Average girl with low stupidity tolerance.
Background: Kat was an everyday, ordinary type of girl in her younger
days. She met James and dated the strange boy for a short period of
time. After high school, she found herself unemployed and looking for
something to do. Among other things, the idea of being a journalist
appealed to her. During a little recreational trip (which doubled as a
learning experience), she found herself a little too close to the action
and ended up killing someone in self-defense. Time passed and she got
much better, but this time trained for a desk job. Just a few weeks
before she was due to leave, James was thrust back into her life.
Immediately she leapt to his aid and with a curious spirit, quickly
began to understand what James was fighting. The following years were
spent joining James' side and learning _how_ to fight the enemy. To Kat,
everything that occured there was a little strange--not entirely
unexpected, just mildly abnormal. After this war was over, Kat and her
fiance were married, but they continued to fight the conspiracy in a
less violent way, honing their skills and teaching others.
Personality: Kat has been a bit brazen and wild in the past years. As a
high school student, she had a hard time learning her lessons and was
too stubborn for her own good. She grew up a great deal during COW, but
picked up a habit of hitting James when he was acting like a fool. To
this day, she doesn't like it when people are secretive unless she knows
she can trust them very well. She's confident, but tends to slightly
underestimate her skills. Kat's best personality trait it her still
unwavering determination. She really wants to help people, in any way
she can, and has the real guts to do so, no matter what she's up
against. Problem is, she frequently forgets to ask for help when she
should.
Description: A little tall for a woman, athletic build. Mousy brown hair
cut to shoulder length and left free, with dark green eyes, often called
'emerald'. She has the build of an athlete, slim but well toned, as
opposed to the tough-as-nails muscled fighters that her male friends
are. She moves with the grace of an expert martial artist, though, even
when working under cover.
John Barker
Role/Occupation: Conspiracy buff, Rant diffuser, Voice of accidental truth.
Background: John was your average high school super genius slacker who
mistrusted authority and tried to find chaos waves while high on drugs.
He had a bone to pick with authority in those years, concocting wild
conspiracy theories to explain the temperments of the people he
offended. Despite outrageous claims, failure of his logic was the
exception and not the rule. Being the creative and slightly gullable
type, he ended up drifting into Los Angeles after finishing art school.
His knowledge conspiracies and esoteric knowledge grew substantially.
He returned to the Tri-Cities after a bad shoot-out between some Marines
turned mercenaries and the L.A. street gangs. Fresh out of a war, he
landed in James' lap. John's real passion was always dinosaurs and
nature. He's an intriguing conversationalist with James nearby, and the
pair have caused a lot of trouble.
Personlity: Honest sometimes to a fault, John trying to keep anything
hidden in sure to backfire in his face. He's impulsive and a little
pig-headed, but eternally searching for the truth, even if it's a little
odd. James pisses him off in all kinds of ways, but he can't verbally
spar with the ex-assassin quite well. His relationship with the rest of
the cast is a little rocky, as he's usually off in some obscure corner
of the world, uncovering amazing things. He enjoys being a true field
agent and enjoys traveling, although its quite a pain. He is smarter
than he appears.
Description: Tall and brutish guy. Thick arms and wide shoulders. Had a
long beard but shaved it. Wiry black hair, beady black eyes and
permanent smile. Wears Jeans and T-shirts most of the time.
Carrie Jamison
Role/Occupation: Quiet but forceful presence. Old friend. Military experience.
Background: A sometimes enigmatic and mysterious person, Carrie spent
several years doing secret things in secret places. As near as her
friends can tell, she somehow got involved in a land war, something bad
happened, and now she trains mercenaries, more out of habit than
anything else. Kind of a dead-end feeling about life in general. Dave
ran into her under unknown circumstances and she was immediately hired.
Personality: Carrie is a bit distant, and strikes most people as lonely,
but she choses that as her way of life. She's superficially cordial to
all, and makes friends easily. Apparently her and James were friends for
a few days, once upon a time, but that rapidly disintegrated into bitter
hatred that neither fully explains. She tolerates him now--to an
extent--because of his amazing abilities. She is secretive by nature,
and fair to a fault, which causes her much anguish at some points in the
story. Her professionalism is her saving grace, a kind of flawless mask
that never ceases to amaze.
Description: About five foot three, extremely cute (even in her
thirties), with a year-round tan, brown hair cut in a pageboy style, and
blue eyes. She's the type to leave a trail of broken hearts and she
definitely looks the part. As for her figure... it's been called "good,"
by someone, but he mysteriously ended up in the hospital not long after
saying so. Carrie usually just wears whatever she has around, so her
clothing varies wildly--and I do mean wildly.
Lisa Goben
Role/Occupation: Branch-X field officer, field intelligence. Expert martial
artist (career type).
Background: Trained from birth in the martial arts by her father, Lisa
acquired a taste for the art and begin training to be an instructor when
she was 14. Her father, however, worked for the CIA as a trainer and
later as a courier. When the shit hit the fan, Hiroshi's people killed
both of her parents, despite James' best efforts. Subsequently, she
joined their quest for revenge, but later came to accept their deaths
and trained to better her skill instead. She fought with the rest for
the sake of stopping the conspiracy. After that battle was put on pause,
Lisa continued to teach and train throughout the world, and kept in
touch with James through occasional letters. After SI, they lost contact
for a brief while as Lisa learned esoteric techniques and the history of
distant lands.
Personality: Lisa is playful, energenetic, thoughtful, and wise. Her
theory on life is a secret only she is privy to. Despite her experience,
calm attitude under fire, and bubbling personality. Lisa has a thousand
sad stories from her life on the road and mourns the passing of all of
her friends. Being sensitive to the lives of others,
Trey Jones
Role/Occupation: Annoying twit, used for make-shift body armor by more
important characters; constant whining prompts others to remember
important things. Not related to Sherridan Jones.
Job: Pilot; shit jobs
Background: Trey was friends with both James and Ed in high school.
James because he could frighten people off just by looking at them, and
Ed, because he always had the latest, greatest toys to play around
with. Trey calmed down considerably after getting his pilot's license,
and had become a rather sociable person when he got involved in the COW
madness. Primarily, he tagged along because he wanted to see what kind
of violence James was capable, and was always deeply bothered by James
actually picking a side in the conflict. After learning that James had,
in fact, created his own side, Trey was okay with everyone and went back
to being his normal self (which the rest of the COW cast never knew). He
retired from the business of saving James' butt and went on to pull
freelance jobs around his home (mostly in Canada) until Branch-X was
formed. He still flies, but now has to hang around a bunch of military
grunts.
Personality: Trey is annoying, but with a purpose. With the language of
a twelve-year-old, he's an asshole, and figures that if people are
mildly annoyed by him, they'll be more honest with him. Indeed, people
are very honest with him--but they don't like volunteering information.
He's a very reasonable guy, but far from charitable.
