Originally known as Earwig, ambient pop duo Insides comprised singer/bassist Kirsty Yates and guitarist/programmer Julian Tardo. Released by 4AD imprint Guernica, their 1993 debut Euphoria was a glacial soundworld of eerie electronics and dispassionate vocals, cradling brutally candid lyrics.
The following year's Clear Skin was their 4AD swansong: a limited edition, one-track CD featuring a 38-minute instrumental.
The pair later re-emerged on the Third Stone label releasing Sweet Tip.
Tardo now records produces and remixes other artists and is currently collaborating with Hypo. Yates is an international businesswoman.
Your music is just beautiful.... and also is Earwig... a friend of mine made me listen to it in the early 90's here in Peru... it was an unforgettable discovering... thanks for such enchanting music
thanks for the add, 'Darling Effect' has been sitting at number one in the charts in a parallel universe since 1994, still love all your work as Insides and Earwig.
i'm so excited to be added! i've been hoping there was a way to keep up with any further projects that you all take up for some time now. nice to be in your crowd! i always loved the euphoria record and the earwig bits, but your surprising turn with sweet tip made my life all the more grand. what a gorgeous turn around! still insides, surely, but different enough to show off your experimentation. i'm looking forward to hearing future projects by the two of you. together would be great, but you both have talent. i'm sure i'll love it all. after all of these years... thank you.
Hi Julian. Good to see your still making music. Still in touch with Bob Hector(he's running the marathon today!) Put some Earwig on the player - havent heard it for years.
you are one band that should be on everyones ipod. no excuses. thank you for your talent and the ability to create that warm fuzzy feeling for those who listen to you. x
