    Instrumenti is a music project based in Riga, Latvia and was created by two academically educated musicians – Shipsi (keyboards/vocals) and Reynsi (drums/keyboards/vocals). The duo have been influenced by and compared to Mika, Björk, Michael Jackson and Sigur Rós. Their sound is a mix of indie-pop and experimental electro, while their vocal versatility ranges from beatbox to operatic counter tenor. During their shows Instrumenti perform catchy pop tunes and romantic melodies next to blood boiling electro beats, eccentric experimental pieces and Handel’s arias from the 18th century. The Instrumenti flight took off in 2009 with their chart topping debut single “Life Jacket Under Your Seat” and the appearance at the Latvian Music Awards ceremony. A year later they grabbed two awards for best Debut and best Song. Since the release of the band’s first EP “Pandemiya” in 2009, Instrumenti have performed in various venues around the Baltic States, Europe and Russia, participating in a number of festivals, including EuropaVox in France, Bergenfest in Norway, Positivus Festival in Latvia, Be2Gether in Lithuania, Õllesummer in Estonia and Sound of the Forest in Germany. The duo also took part at this year’s South by Southwest in Texas, USA. Instrumenti have opened for Mika, James Blunt, and have shared the stage with Scissor Sisters, Moby, Skunk Anansie and The Whip. What makes Instrumenti captivating is the duo’s natural wit and charisma, but especially it’s their creativity and skills that allow them to delicately blend different styles and genres, creating an enjoyable aural and visual adventure. Instrumenti stage appearance (white panda masks or oversized, face-covering wigs and dapper suits) only add to the show - be it a small gig at a club, a fancy performance at the Opera house with a twelve piece chamber orchestra or a full-on show on the main stage at an open-air music festival. Instrumenti debut album is planned for the first quarter of 2011.
