An enormously talented guitarist, and gutsy vocalist, Martin brings both rock and jazz influences to the show. Martin’s stage presence needs to be seen to be believed, he is a larger than life character in many ways. He counts, among his influences Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Toto, Mr Big and Journey. Martin plays Ibanez guitars through Line Six Flextone amplification. Martin has also played with Bedside Manor.
Colin Kempster - Bass and Vocals
Colin revels in the live experience, and this can be seen from his obvious enjoyment when playing. Delivering a solid yet melodic fingerstyle undercurrent to the music, Colin cites his influences as Norman Watt - Roy, John Entwhistle, Geezer Butler, Tony Levin, Jaco Pastorius, Peter Gabriel and Gong. Colin has previously played with Out of the Wood, Michele Welborn and Potion, and has ‘filled in’ for Giles Hedley, Togmor and Bedside Manor. Colin plays Fender and Warwick basses through Markbass and David Eden amplification.
Steve ‘Rock Star’ Wright - Drums
Steve admittedly subscribes to the ‘massive wallop type drumming syndrome!’. Listing among his influences Cozy Powell and Neil Peart, it’s not difficult to see why. His more sensitive side lists Phil Collins, Chester Thompson and Buddy Rich , along with Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi as other influences. Steve plays a Sonor 2003 kit with Zildjian Cymbals. Together with Colin on bass, Steve contributes to what must be one of the most powerful and solid rhythm sections in the area at the moment.
Insurrection are based in North Buckinghamshire/Northants and are in the process of establishing themselves on the scene and building a core base of listeners.
Comprising the classic power trio line up of guitar, bass and drums, Insurrection deliver a blistering set of highly charged rock and blues in the style of some of the classic rock bands from the seventies and eighties.
Insurrection understand the need to tailor their music to your customers taste. Consequently, they can perform either a covers set, or a predominantly original set. The feel can be biased either towards rock or blues, or a mixture of both. The quality of Insurrection’s output can be sampled on their demo CD - ‘The Revolution Starts Here’.
Insurrection have started to add some sixties influenced material to their repertoire should the occasion demand, including a number of soul classics.
Above all, Insurrection’s main aim is to entertain the audience with fine musicianship, humour and a definite sense of enjoying the occasion.
Insurrection are self sufficient in terms of PA for small to medium sized gigs and have access to equipment for larger venues. They would be keen to bring their show to entertain your customers with covers from the likes of Bon Jovi, Bad Company and Journey, along with a selection of their own material.
