Founded in 1998 by producer/drummer David Nerattini and brothers Paolo and Pino Pecorelli in Rome, I.H.C. is a band that reaches beyond the confines of any single musical category. Drawing from a broad scope of influences (ranging from Miles Davis, Sun Ra and Fela Kuti, to The Meters, King Crimson and Morton Subotnick), their sound is an undeniably unique and powerful mixture of jazz, rock, funk and avant-garde.
Members of the collective are some of the foremost italian musicians of the last two decades, involved in projects like the Orchestra of Piazza Vittorio, Ardecore, Etruria Criminale Banda, La Comitiva, Roberto Gatto Quintet, Ossatura, Jazz Guerrilla and in countless studio sessions and concerts all over the world.
Blending electronics with a natural bent for improvisation, I.H.C. are known for their wild and unexpected shows, bringing the audience into a always different sonic journey among their musical self proclaimed inspirations.
I.H.C. released their first record in 1999 (Unti dal signore), a self-produced live album (recorded in Rome at Il Locale) that has won the praises from the press and made them a stable of the improvisational music scene of the city. A second album, A Come Anima, followed two years later in a limited edition and it’s now a collector’s item.
After a 4 years hiatus, the band got back together in 2007 for a showcase tour in their hometown, followed by another tour of Italy’s most important cities in winter 2008. I.H.C.'s new project is a tribute to the great SUN RA.∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞
Fondati nel 1998 dal batterista e produttore David Nerattini e dai fratelli bassisti Paolo e Pino Pecorelli, gli I.H.C. sono una band che travalica i singoli generi musicali e sfugge le definizioni. Il loro suono è una potente miscela di jazz, funk, rock, noise ed avanguardia che lascia ampio spazio all’improvvisazione, memore delle lezioni di musicisti come Miles Davis, Sun Ra, James Brown, Fela Kuti e Karlheinz Stockhausen e di gruppi come King Crimson, Stooges, Can, Public Enemy e Parliament/Funkedelic, ma con uno stile indiscutibilmente personale.
Tra i componenti degli I.H.C., ci sono alcuni dei più importanti musicisti italiani delle ultime due decadi, coinvolti in progetti come l’Orchestra Di Piazza Vittorio, Ardecore, Etruria Criminale Banda, La Comitiva, Roberto Gatto Quintet, D.L.O., Ossatura, Jazz Guerrilla ed in innumerevoli produzioni, session di studio e concerti in Italia e nel mondo. Veterani della scena romana, gli I.H.C. sono noti per i loro concerti imprevedibili, durante i quali miscelano tessiture elettroniche con una naturale propensione per l’improvvisazione più selvaggia. Caratteristica che rende le loro performance un viaggio sonoro ogni volta diverso, tra le loro auto proclamate ispirazioni.
Gli I.H.C. hanno realizzato il loro primo disco nel 1999 (Unti dal Signore), un album live autoprodotto (registrato a Roma presso Il Locale) che si è guadagnato il plauso della stampa e li ha resi un punto di riferimento per la scena musicale dell’improvvisazione in Italia. Un secondo album, A come Anima è uscito due anni dopo in edizione limitata, diventando oggi oggetto di collezionismo.
Dopo quattro anni di silenzio, la band è tornata insieme nel 2007 per uno showcase tour nella loro città nativa, seguito da un tour nazionale nell’inverno del 2008.
