It's now been 5 years of lies and atrocities in Iraq. If we wait for the next president, many more soldiers and civilians will be needlessly killed or maimed in the meantime. Please protest to end the occupation NOW, and ask others to do likewise. If someone you know is still undecided, please ask them to watch veterans testify in the WINTER SOLDIER hearings, MARCH 13-16. Go to ivaw dot org to learn more about the hearings. ... War, poverty, ecocide, arrogant bullying --they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. But it's not too late -- we can still learn to make peace. Talk with people. Love, Eric

The torch of editing the zine yearbook has been passed to us at Microcosm and we are beginning to assemble the 9th annual Zine Yearbook for 2007! "Wow!" you're saying to yourself, "I sure wish my zine was in there!" Well, it can be! Simply send a copy to us with a note explaining your intentions. All you need to qualify is a print run of less than 5,000 copies and to have been published in 2007. Deadline for submissions is Dec 31 so hurry! Space is limited so not every submission will be included. Make sure to provide all of your contact information and get in touch with questions. Please also let us know if you could hang up posters in your town!
Thanks to Richrd for making the posters.

breathe deep, talk fast,
let go, love lots,
be fair, be silly,
dream often, think hard,
show tears, laugh loud,
stand still, travel far,
be quiet, be famous,
sit down, stand tall,
be bored, be sexy,
slumber peacefully, run fast

Have a great weekend!

Just wanted to let you (and your comment-reading friends) know that GUD Issue 1 is now available for purchase!

Issue 1 comes to life with Darby Larson's "Electroencephalography" where an experiment in robot-building goes terribly awry. And if you've ever woken up with an unexpected physical deformity—say, an arrow in your heart—you'll truly enjoy the next story. There's also a smattering of flash fiction and psychedelia; a straight-out story where things aren't what they seem, poetry that takes you from the perverse to the sublime, some magic realism, science fiction, and a few letters to another species thrown in for good measure. We haven't forgotten those of you with a literary bent. In addition, the artwork in this issue is particularly strong, with oil paintings, watercolors, photography, and photo illustrations complementing the words with which they are paired.

Thanks for being a friend!

Greetings & Salutations

It is now glaringly obvious that the posters and our other activities have attracted the attention of The United States Department of State and other governmental agencies. I recently applied for a passport as part of my next two quarters of Independent Learning Contracts (Spring to go to the G8 as part of a medic team in Germany and Summer to go to Mexico and conduct interviews concerning the G8’s influence on that region) these will complete my BA degree through The Evergreen State College. My application was denied. The Department of State said they wanted Complete Employment Records (including employer I.D. numbers), Complete Educational Records, Complete Residency Records, Complete Tax Records and the names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, dates of death, dates of marriage of ALL my family members. I have contacted my attorney and he has sent a letter, as have I and my primary instructor for the spring contract. So far this has met with no response from the Department of State.
I am asking that each and every one of you that appreciate freedom and resist oppression write a letter of support and send it to:

United States Department of State
Colorado Passport Agency
3151 South Vaughn Way, Suite 600
Cherry Creek Place III
Aurora, CO 80014

Protesting the unconstitutional use of the United States Intelligence services to intimidate law-abiding citizens.

Through them denying my passport they have not only caused the two contracts to be nullified but have delayed graduate school for a whole year (at best) and caused mad chaos with the financial aid office. This has placed me in a very difficult and expensive situation as I have already purchased $1110.30 worth of non-refundable airline tickets and made many arrangements in and around Germany for the upcoming G8 Convention.
I know that together we can fight this monster and that if we let them intimidate and coerce us into silence that we are guilty of collusion th

build yourself a house full of friends
who will live with you
in the firelight of human architecture

hold one another
in times of fancy and fretfulness
for hands on hands
will shake the devil to his root

and send him running after flames

sing songs of ancient reticence
and long lost love
and bear truth like fruit
from the soil of your longing

will compassion into being
with smiles that break
