| General | Take melodies, take soul, take rock‘n’roll, add finger picking and a saxophone and you’re getting close to the sound of International One. There’s no other Manchester band that sounds like this, there’s no other Manchester band with this instrumentation and there’s no other band with the strength and depth of tunes that International One possess.
The focus of the songs has always been the melodies but the rich texture of the music is something that sets this band apart. Each member is a highly skilled musician, each totally dedicated to their instrument, each with their own thing to say. It is the sum of these parts that make the unmistakable sound of International One.
Waves are undoubtedly being made by the music. Guitarist and singer John Blaylock says ‘Everybody who hears the music wants a copy to play their friends.’ Because of this and their live performances the band have already generated a following around South Manchester who echo the self belief found within International One.
‘Hurricane’ is always the last song at International One gigs because it epitomizes what the band is all about. The energy, the groove, the melodies and the instrumentation, it’s a definite future single. The stunningly Moonshine and Roses’ is the band’s latest recording which was made in Ronda, Spain with the legendary Phil Vinall producing. |
