"A Friend of Mine have the antidote to all that is fucked up in the world right now" - 3d World
"a group of guys who sound like they decided to form a band because they had, in order of importance: (a) been dumped, or possibly left off the cricket team; (b) electric guitars and pedals which makes it go all fuzzy; (c) bad feelings about the world; (d) heard how people like Kurt could make misery sound cool; (e) an idea to outpour all of their resentment into a song; and (f) the intention to make up the melody later."
- Rave Magazine
"It would be remiss of me not to mention openers A Friend Of Mine, who played a solid set of their version of post punk which was tremendously powerful. Creating a pummeling wall of sound, the punters seemed genuinely appreciative of having their ears tested early."
- Beat
"A Friend Of Mine played the sort of music you might bulldoze a neighbourhood to: rolling waves of brooding guitar grounded by frenetic, precise drumwork... their variation in intensity and unpretentious character made them a band worth catching. Take Tool and splice their musical genome with that of jazz legends The Necks and you've got a rough idea."
- Inpress Magazine
"an interesting blend of genres and ideas…There’s a very obvious intelligence that warrants a second or third listen."
- Drum Media
"A FRIEND of Mine have a sombre, shy aesthetic. Their One Trick Phony single creeps up on you before launching into a Mother Hubbard guitar lead. It rates, mates."
- Herald Sun
A Friend Of Mine: They use guitars, bass, pedals, laptop, keyboard, drums, sampler and two lead vocals. They have been doing this since they were in shortpants, but recording/performing under this name started in October, 2005. First EP came out 2007. It is cheap and critically acclaimed. A new song, "One Trick Phony", was released in December 2008, followed by the full length album "God Mode", which is less cheap, but more critically acclaimed. Listen to the new single "Heroin Sheik" on this page.
