Intrigue are primarily a live band with several hundreds gigs behind in Norway and abroad. Intrigue have been regarded by critics and audiences as the foremost live band north of the Arctic Circle. They have performed on most of the festivals north of the Arctic Circle, where they have drawn full houses at their concerts. In 2002/2003 Intrigue were one of the best selling artists in Norway, awarded Gold-status for their CDEP "Heavyjoik". They have performed at countless tv- and radioprogrammes both in Norway and abroad in their carreer, where “Gullruten” on norwegian TV 2 in June 2002 has been one of the heights.
From the start in 1989 and throughout the 90s until today the sámi heavyjoik-band Intrigue from Karasjok (Norway) have been regarded by critics and audiences as the foremost live band north of the Arctic Circle. They won the Rock mot rus ‘Rock against intixication’ “Sørøyrocken 1993” which resulted in their debut-CD “Intrigue” (1994).
In March 2002 Intrigue released the CDEP “Heavyjoik” produced by star guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø (TNT) and Dag Stokke. It received very good words in the press. The EP contains amongst others the hit “Eatni nieida”, also known as the teme joik from the tv-series “Ante”. It sold to gold status in 2 months and is now closing up to platinum. The same year they were honored with Ailloha--’ ærespris ‘honorary prize of Áilloha--’ for their effort in spreading sami joik and music.
In April 2003 they released the CD album “Crossover”—also in cooperation with Ronni Le Tekrø. The album contains 11 songs from melodious ballads to catching rock joiks. Several of the songs are so-called “crossovers”, i.e. english lyrics with elements of joik. This to satisfy the constantly increasing interest southwards in Norway and abroad.
The last couple of years they have performed at concerts abroad (Russia and Sweden).
With a new line-up in 2006, Intrigue are planning to record a new album (for planned release in 2009) and ready to "heavyjoik" at concerts again.
