   About Kate Eve
..

Emotionally intelligent & organic, this is rootsy acoustic music with mettle.

With various solo and collaborative feathers to her cap, Kate Eve has been identified as having the “x factor”, inducing affectionate devotion from audiences wherever she plays. 2008 has already seen The Kate Eve Collective launch the album, PHENOMENOLOGY, play in The Brunswick Music Festival, The Clifton Hill Hotel, and The Cornish Arms in addition to Kate playing a myriad solo gigs all over the place.

Outstanding provider of solid foundational rhythm and drive is drummer, Craig Edwards; a player drawing upon expansive influences and many years experiences in Melbourne’s music scene, enabling a sensitive, responsive band dynamic. Locking in with this bottom end is Michael Thomas, who comes with a background in big band, funk, jazz and originals and a very tasty bass. Fresh on the local gig scene, Mike brings a compelling intensity to the rhythmic foundations of The Collective.

Daz Leng has arisen from a melting pot of styles and cultures – from Singapore to New Zealand, heavy metal to funk – to become an eclectic and truly exceptional guitarist. A deeply seasoned live and session player, Daz is a brilliant catch for the Kate Eve Collective, as is Greg Hunt. His playing, described as powerful, passionate and sensitive and lending itself perfectly to the Collective style, Greg is a stalwart of the Australian music industry; his extraordinary range of styles can be found on numerous Australian recordings. Greg also appears with Dave Walker’s Blue Moon Lodge and the all-star cast of Ian Bland’s Lamington Drive Orchestra.”

Backing singer, Megan Orrin has the vocal muscle of a blues mama, yet maintains superb subtlety for a broad range of styles from acoustic blends through to electronica and choral. A songwriter and performer in her own right, Megan has performed in various capacities but was recently snatched up greedily by The Kate Eve Collective.

At the forefront of The Collective sound rides Kate’s vocals and rich acoustic guitar. Her voice moves easily from fragile tenderness to gut-punching power to effervescent warmth, through songs of hope, trust and yearning evoking a freshness of sincerity and authenticity. All these features are dynamically supported and showcased by The Kate Eve Collective.

Life is like a song
Waiting to be sung.
Will it be played softly
Or like the beating of a drum?

The lyrics are being
Recorded each and every day
In all that we do
And in all that we say.

If we choose to follow God and
Abstain from the devil and his ways
Our song will have a beautiful melody
One of purity and praise.

Now go ahead and write your glorious
Song as you live for Christ each day
For great will be your reward and
In heaven you'll forever stay.

Apologies for my tardiness... I think that would be an excellent idea - we've had a tilt at Maldon, so hopefully we'll land that and I'm more than up for anything, especially when it comes to playing with good people!

Hi Kate,
I've only heard your tunes through myspace at the moment - I'll have to hit Mr Hunt up for a copy of your disc!
We should do some gigs together mate - as they say, a violinist in the hand is worth two in the... aah - let me rephrase that - I'll search for a different proverb and get back to you!
Seriously though, we should look at doing some double header shows - I reckon our styles of music are really complementary - what do you think?
Cheers

Thankyou so much for your kind words, Kate.

This page is being managed by Kristina in NSW but I have passed your message onto Fanita Clarke in Queensland, who was very pleased to hear of your correspondence.

I would encourage you to email her on white.wreath@bigpond.com if you would like to offer any ideas on future services, otherwise you are more than welcome to speak to me as well.

Perhaps I could put your music up on my site as White Wreath Day approaches this year?

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions!

Love Kristina
