When some in the crowd dared to suggest Jesus drove out the demon by the power of Beelzebub (the prince of demons), Jesus made the observation that a "house divided against itself will fall." Maria More, Poetess and Lyricist, embraces musical artistry through a passionate release of thought invoked words over smooth instrumentals. Maria has been writing for more than a decade and is inspired by the musical influences of Bahamadia, Lauryn Hill, Sade, and Jill Scott. Pioneering a new sound, Maria More creatively blends a smooth lyrical delivery over tracks that fuse jazz, R&B and hip-hop sounds.
Often referred to as The Perfect Blend of Sight and Sound, Maria began performing with a live soul band and contributed to the breaking R&B Soul album "Make It Phat, Baby" which acquired national acclaim for the hit spoken-word single "Sundress." She made specific contributions to the singles: "Phat Cat Theme," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Stay High," all of which were featured on the "Make It Phat, Baby" album.
Maria has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music including Doug E. Fresh, Howard Hewitt, Anthony Hamilton, Goaple, and more. Performances include The Tom Joyner Morning Show Cruise, Essence Festival, Bank of America New Years Celebration, For Sisters Only, and many more. Recently developing a passion for percussion, Maria can also be found playing the conga drums at live performances. Maria will release her solo project "MORE THAN YOU KNOW" in early 2007.
Maria More models part time and is the Midday Radio Personality for Cumulus Broadcasting, WWLD-FM Blazin 102.3. She is the proud mother of 2 young boys and holds both a Bachelors (Public Relations) and Masters (MBA) from Florida A&M University and Florida State University (respectively).
