Invincible Hummingbirds is the latest project of cellist/songwriter Brent Arnold, who is known for his playing with ex-indie bands like Modest Mouse and Sleater-Kinney. The music an experimental chamber-rock affair incorporating strings, drums, guitars, pedal steel, and electronic processing into surprising and explosive arrangements. Collaborators have included Thayer McClanahan (Twin Thousands), Jennifer Turner (Joseph Arthur), Karl Blau, Michael Lerner (Antlers, Ghosts I've Met), Karen Waltuch, Mikey Freedom Hart, Lia Kessel, Maggie Kim, Rich Levinson, Abe Pollack, Mike DeSeve, Patrick Harrison, and Jean Cook (Beauty Pill). With all their cellos, violins, noises, drones, rock and soul they've been compared to Blonde Redhead, David Bowie, Andrew Bird, and Animal Collective.
