Hey; my name’s Stafford and I’m the evil dictator of I/O/I. I/O/I being a fancifully weird moniker that I came up with so that it can be many different things that represent music and other artistic endeavors of mine. Writing, photography, visual art, astronomy; oh and moonlit walks on the beach, are some other interests. Sometimes doing these things can be difficult because I don’t like the official sounding advertisement-speak of so many of the future rock-stars, brands, and marketeers selling product or self out there. Much prefer a colloquial style of talk and type. Anyway, I’m into experimental types of art because there are no set boundaries or rules to abide by. It’s organic in the sense that it’s art created with no other factors that can cripple it like, demographics, money, fame, or retarded aesthetic notions of what something should be like. It is rebellious in its naïve heart and brain because experimental stuff has the resolve to risk total failure of acceptance in the sterile light of trends. With this in mind I try to be this way a lot of the time, but it’s admittedly hard because the whole perspective could just devolve into nihilism. So on the other hand, I do venture into everything I just derided because, well I’m a human with memory and nostalgic attachments that cling to me like an old childhood friend. There's plenty of music that has shaped me and my musical output to reciprocate the feeling to others. Good or bad. I like to think of I/O/I as a kind of induced, CERN-like atom smasher that rains down cool sounding debris as the result of positive and negative forces meeting. So the point being; is to be honest and truthful at the risk of producing something artistically gratifying, or to just fall flat on my face trying. It’s fucked up yet exhilarating.
