WORDS/INFO:

"TOI used music as existential combustion to drag the listener's soul through the shaodw of death with role models like Joy Division, Black Fag, and Swans (all in spirit more than sound). They gathered sand in their teeth, salt in their wounds, with pulsating blinding migraines and thirst cracking their throats, yet they still stood and still defied."
Terrorizer Magazine, 2006

"TOI's sound was forged out of equal parts punk rock, sludge and free jazz, and often sounded as if it could have been a distant evolution of Black Flag or Bad Brains had either given in to their most primal aggression. There has never been a band that sounded quite like this and there likely never will be again.
Lambgoat, 2006

"It’s kind of beautiful that mental and chemical problems eventually destroyed the band, and that their “career” was built on failure, negativity and violence; anything less would’ve been posing."
Decible Magazine, 2006

"Some of the most intense fucking hardcore I've ever heard... truth."
Sputnik Music Review, 2007

"I fear I might actually kill someone (when listening to TOI)"
Real Detroit Weekly, 2006

"Maniacal and brilliant"
All Music Guide, 2006

"An ultimate realization of pain-through-sound."
Alternative Press, 1997.

"The most underrated and under-appreciated band in modern hardcore. Thoughts of Ionesco have always remained somewhat inaccessible when they should have been huge."
Superhero Magazine, 1999

"I had the fortune of seeing TOI live twice during their tumultuous existence and they were amazing and mind bending both times."
Punk Planet, 2005

"This reccord (The Triptych Session) is THE motherfucker!!!"
Second Nature Magazine, 1997

"A lot of people will breathe easier now that Thoughts of Ionesco are dead and gone, but they scorched a bittersweet scar on music that will never be forgotten."
Slap Magazine, 2001

"Possibly one of the most devastating, derranged, and challenging angst-bands ever. "A Skin Historic" is an art-core mindfuck."
SPIN Magazine, 1998

"One of the most inredibly raw and emotionally painful records I've ever had the pleasure of listening to."
Collective Magazine UK, 2001

"It's a wild ride, you got your ears on?"
Metro Times, 1998

Unreleased version of "Blamesday" 1997

I think I will start listening to 90s hardcore again. You know I really think the world is ending soon. This obama nonsense is killing me. To feel that we know everything but can do nothing. Its very suicidal.

T of I...simply brilliant sonic violence. I remember those shows vividly...Ann Arbor...Zoot's coffee...the Token Lounge...your inspiration has been profound and I thank thee. My own puny anger has never had such a wondrous companion as T of I's soundtrack of nihilism and bleak hysteria.Photobucket

Nice new additions to the music. That track off Skin is one of my all timers. The tone makes me think of lava devouring a village.

Dwid's "Manson--Fish & Squid--Rodeo" brings me comfort... It's a truly beautiful piece of religious iconography.

do you guys remember the show you played in a kalamazoo basement with wallside, i think it was 1997. well, i do. i was fourteen and then and bought the randall 7" and remember playing it for my friend the next day while he was coming off of an extremely terrifying bad acid trip. suffice to say the record did not help much to calm his frazzled nerves...but that for me, ten years later, still gives me goosebumbs, not only cos the music is so powerful, but it brings back the memories of a times in my life where everything was carefree and punk rock was beautiful and those records, as cliche as it sounds, have helped save and shape my life...thanks friends!
